I don't know if there's a "global" answer for this or it's a "team" thing. But, since we had a few ( ) yards in penalties the other night, it made me wonder. (Things that make you go hmmmm....)

Are the penalty yards that get assessed on offense attributed to the player(s) when regained?

Ex: 1st & 10 - RB gains 5 yds and there's a false start on the OL. RB runs for 5 on 1st & 15. Does he have 5 yds rushing or 10 on his stats? And does the team gain 5 yds or 10? Or does it matter, since there's a 5 yd penalty? :nerd:

In the case of your example a false start kills the play dead. So, realistically the play never occurs. So, to answer your question he only gets the 5 yards.

i believe ... if the play stands and the penalty is assessed, then stats count ... if the down is played over, then it never happened.

2 years ago we had a scoring drive that was for like 110 yards :)

This is the NCAA Stats Manual. Might help you if you want to keep them according to NCAA rules
