If the Top teams keep losing like they are week after week, could this be the season that potentially leads to a giant push for a playoff system in college football?

They need a playoff system BAD. They could fit their bowl games in the playoff system.

I like the play off idea. But there would have to be lots of changes in the current system, before than can happen.

than from bowl games

if you had 16 teams
that would be 15 games in 3 weeks
32 teams would be 31 games in 4 weeks
bowl games could be used
BUT

travel-tv contracts-matching money (the Rose Bowl gives out 17m)
it is difficult for teams to travel acroos the country 4 weeks in a row
attendance will people come if their team isnt in the game?

there are a lot of factors

but if it isnt MORE and I mean LOT More the NCAA, TV, ad people ect

Won't be the season for all of the reasons listed by B44 up above. First and foremost the biggest reason is money and always will be.
