And so it begins....DISTRICT....time to put up or shut up

Orange Grove has played:

2A (4-1) Banquette W 34-0
2A (3-3) Taft W 35-12
2A (3-2) Hebbronville L 7-18
3A (1-5) Falfurrias W 47-0
3A (1-5) Goliad W 29-20

Sinton has played:

3A (4-2) Cuero L 0-53
4A (2-3) Gp L 0-31
4A (4-1) Beeville L 6-50
4A (1-4) Robstown W 25-14
4A (4-1) Port Lavaca L 13-45

Sinton has played the tougher schedule, but OG has been beating the teams they are suppose to beat with the exception of Hebbronville. I like the progress I've Sinton make from Week 0 to now. I think this wil be a low scoring game (HAHA maybe not so low scoring) and I predict the Pirates get their pay back for last year! :cheerl:

Your thoughts?

The Pirates offense has gotten better each week. As long as they can hold on to the ball, I think they can come out of this with a win.

OG is going into district play a little beat up. Thank goodness that we have more depth than usual. Our defense has been average at best. However, our offense seems to be improving every week. I will be a homer and take OG but it will be a high scoring affair, I think.

This team is no where near as banged up as they were last year. Now if the center can keep control of his snaps and if Harris can learn to hold on to the ball, then I think things will be good. I'm pretty sure that OG's o-line will tower over our d-line like PLC's did.

Rita, could you add a poll to this so that our Inglesidenites can have some satisfaction and vote for OG. Thanks love. :D

I haven't seen either team play, but based on the fact that OG has actually won more games than lost and Sinton has a new coach and new system, I have to go with OG.

Pirates have moved the ball on some good defenses against 4a clubs and they will move it on Orange Grove also, but they have to finish the drives with points. Defensively as long as they dont get overmatched up front again the Pirates win by a couple of TDs.

I am also going on a limb here and calling the upset. If Sinton doesn't fumble or keep it to a min. Pirates can upset the Bulldogs.

West Oso is gonna be tough if they can make it through grade week, but I still like our chances. Hell, everyone has a 50/50 shot, right? :D

One game at a time, p4s. I think Sinton will have their hands full this week. Also, since WO is winning this year, I would expect them to have no problem with grades as you suggested. Good luck, however.

Orange Grove has several key starters out and sinto always steps it up in district play. Last year`s game was 16-10 OG if I remember correctly. so it should be a good game. Last week Goliad came in with couple of really good athletes and threw the ball all over the field in the first half. we made adjustments and were able to slow them down in the 2nd half. so that game was a good test and warm up for district play. I think the new system and coach at Sinton will definetly have them back atop 30-3A before long, just don`t think it`s this year, Orange Grove 25-sinto 18. good luck to both teams and may all players come out healthy.

Amen to that last statement. When you are hurting for #s to begin with injuries are the last thing ANY team needs!

Every one keeps saying that Sinton is running a new system. Same plays, just called from the bench without a huddle. They have gotten a little quicker, but not much. I think that is what frustrates everyone the most. It is supposed to be a hurry up offense and it is NOT right now.

Sinton by a touchdown.

Robstown 27-0 over Laredo Johnson in the 1st game of year, Johnson is now 1-4 on the year, as is Robstown, Robstown losses were to Laredo United South 20-10, Rockport-Fulton 28-23,
Corpus Christi Moody 14-7 and to Sinton 25-14.

I do not know if this answers your question but use it for what it is worth.

Sinton may not necessarily have a new "system", but anytime you get a new coach, it becomes a new "system" purely based on the pace he runs the game, the types of play calls, the schemes he runs. So , although it may be the same playbook, it is a new system due to the new coach and the different "feel" for the kids. Give em a year or two and they`ll be fine. Besides every school 3A or smaller has certain grade classes that just have more athletes than a previous one or an upcoming one. That is not a knock on any student/athlete, just a fact that at smaller schools, you have fewer student/athletes to fill certain spots. Kudos to the students that do go out and try their tails off.

I do not know if this answers your question but use it for what it is worth. Laredo Johnson(1-4) only win is against Crystal City(5-1) 26-25 in OT and that is Crystal City only loss of the season.

Well, since her brother graduated she doesn't feel the need to go to anymore games for now. She doesn't understands why I still feek the need to go. I tell her because I've always gone to every game. When I lived in Odem, I never missed a home game. When I moved to Sinton, I went to every single game, both home and away, from 1992-2001. I've managed to catch two home games this year. Tonight will make 2.5 because I will be watching from across the street and will probably not get to watch the whole thing.
