With some districts starting district play, the games of the week be harder to pick, but i think this game should be the closes game this week between two teams looking to get into the playoff this year.
Mathis comes into this game averaging 29 pts/game and 362 yds a game of offense. Defensively Pirates are allowing 17 pts/game and 255yds a game. Pirates are led by Chris Veliz who has 616 yds and 3 TD this year. Santos DeLeon has also shine this year for the Pirates with 311 yds rushing and 161 yds receiving with 5 total TDs.
West Oso comes into this game averaging 27 pts/game and 239 yds of offense. Defensively the Bears defense has been playing great allowing 10 pts/game and surrending only 194 yds a game. Bears are led by their two speedy backs Shedrick Howard (408 yds,5 TD) and David Fox (306 yds, 2 TDs).
Common opponents:
Mathis 47 Falfurrias 0---West Oso 33 Falfurrias 0
Mathis 33 San Deigo 0---West Oso 53 San Deigo 0
My prediction is the Bears win a close game 20-17
Discuss who wins and why.

I'll go with Mathis, since nobody else has voted for them and they are apparently the underdogs...

I'm voting for the Howling Bears from West Oso. They've looked pretty darn good this year.

I'm going with DA Bears in a close hard fought 6 point win.
On a side note although O.G., Da Stangs, Da Bears, seem to have the edge in district for three playoff spots you can never count out Sinton.

This will not be a blowout. Bears should win but wouldnt be suprise if the Pirates come out of this game with a win. Bears defensive line is pretty good and should be able to hold Mathis running game in check, but if Mathis takes to the air they could pull out a win.

Well, I picked Da Bears in a close one not because of the secondary problems Da Bears have had , but because I think it Mathis will do what it does best which is run the ball about 90% of the time. I feel that Da Bears are bigger and stronger on both the d line and o line. Da Bears will wear down Mathis, and beat them in the 4 quarter. I know the San Diego game was not a game in which I could say Da Bears have fixed their secondary problems but they did try to throw the ball and could not muster anything. Da Bears have 4 new players who suited up last friday and strictly play in the secondary.

Were these 4 new players on some sort of suspension or are they just now joining the team?

two were transfers , two were not playing because they missed two a days. this team has a diffrent attitude from previous teams. they police each other up and rules are enforce by coaches and players. The two transfer kids have always lived in the community and actually transfer the last week of school last year. Both play corner back and are as fast as our two running backs. the other two kids play safety. all these kids have been there since the start of school. this actually helps us with depth, which we havent had in the past. Coaches are using and rotating all positions which gives are kids breathers.

black bear, in your opinion, do you think this is fair to the kids that they are replacing?

two tell you the, they were given a chance two go both ways and struggled mightly on defense.i just think they were getting to tired. they still get about 10 to 15 plays on defense. they are excellent wrs.

Don't no how true or not this is, but just heard from a guy at work that Mathis running back Chris Veliz might not even play tonight. He said he is still banged up. If that is true I change my earlier prediction from a 6 point win to at least 20 points. I believe Chris is what makes that running game work.
