If Decatur plays like they did against Vernon, ill take Decatur

If B-port plays like they played against Breckenridge, ill take B-port

However, I think Decatur has been getting better every week, as Bridgeport seems to continue to struggle.

With that being said Ill take Decatur by 17

decatur in this one...last year if i remember correctly josh trant put up over 400 yards total offense by his lonesome.....i agree that the bulls are better than they have been the past few years...but other than IP they havent played anyone that i know of....breckenridge???? they might as well have played a 1A 6 man team. The bulls defense will not be able to stop trant, unger and harrison, nor will they be able to stop these kids desire. the eagles are hungry, and some "beef" is looking mighty filling right now.

It doesn't matter who's up or down any particular year, they always play good together. I'm going to go with the Eagles anyway. I just think the east side of the Big Sandy will prevail! As long as we both BEAT that stuck up group from Argyle everything will be good!:)

Slybear - how has B'port's pass defense been this year? Decatur is beginning to gel in the passing game and that will be the key. If Eagle's can get completions, Trant will be able to run the ball.

Gonna be a great game this year and in the end I think home field will make the difference. Decatur 23 - 20 on a 4th quarter 42 yard field goal. The place will be rockin'......................

where in that quote did it say they were on fire???? just wondering. but if you are really looking for an answer then here it is....Decatur, though they are 2-3, has been playing better every week. the burkburnet game, which they whould have won, was a very close game. The sweetwater game was an all out disaster, i will give you that. but, against vernon (a top ten team), they decided to show up. and could have and should have won the game. (throwing a pick on the 3 yard line instead of running and then kicking a field goal for the win). Glen Rose was a cake walk. And not to mention that their best offensive weapon has been nursing a hamstring injury all season, but now will have two full weeks to treat it and finally become 100% and break out that 4.38 40. thats why they WILL be on fire this friday.

I'm going to have to call you that 4.38 40. Very few of those walking around and probably not any walking the halls in High School. I'm sure he's fast but I doubt he's as fast as the Edwards kid from Wylie last year (state champion 200) and he's only a legit mid 4.4's at best according to College Track coaches. And anyone who has seen him play would agree on Edwards being lightning in a bottle. And if he's nursing a hamstring he's probably closer to 4.6 than 4.4 right now.

And I would also include Sky Green in the fast man catagory and he's probably not a legit 4.3, but he is one fast motor scooter also.

That's why I asked. I don't see Trant's name on here.

Why is Argyle stuck up?
I'll take Decatur by 2 in a great game over B-port.

ARGYLE will win District 8-3A.

Good luck to both teams should be a great game

If Trant is healthy and running around a 4.5, I'll take Decatur in a close one because their playing at home.

i asked around and found out the trant kid didnt get past the regional track meet last year, apparently he pulled his hamstring in the middle of the 200 meter dash. and as far as his 40 time this year, thats what a coach told me. he said that they had 4 coaches timing him and he ran a 4.38 the first time and a 4.36 the second time. im just the messenger, but thats what i was told. could be innacurate, but i know the kid is fast.

No problem fballfan, It just always cracks me up the way people throw around statements around about high school kids running 4.3's, and 4.4's. Not that it is impossible, but I was a coach for 18 years, 10 of which was in College, and Some of my best friends are still college track coaches. Hand held times are extremely inaccurate and thats what High School Coaches use, and usually are very good at it. If a High School kid is a legit 4.60 in high school he usually stands out on a football field as being faster than most of the rest, especially in a 3A game.

I don't doubt that Trant is fast. I was at the Decatur/Wylie game last year and there was only one person that stood out as being extremely fast and that was #20 for Wylie. Nobody on Decaturs team was even in the same galaxy with him when it came to speed and quickness, especially in a full football uniform which didn't seem to slow him down much. Some kids are track fast but can't carry it over to football and carry their pads well.

I don't really want to hijack this thread so I won't harp on it anymore. Hope you guys see a great game on Friday. I'm still taking the Eagles in a close one.

I don't want to hi-jack it either but....

Giles Montgomery was listed as 6 ft. 7 in. his senior year. He
gets to TCU and they list him as 6 ft. 4 in. I don't think he's
shrinking.:D

Bull's passing D has played good in spurts at times this year. Definitely have a faster backfield then it times past. Rushing D has been pretty good too... only a few breakdowns. Mostly, the D has played pretty good.

Looking forward to a great one...

Slybear - like you I expect this to be a really good game. Was surprised the WCM said Decatur by 10. Like a said before - Decatur by 3 on a last minute field goal only cuz of homefield. If this was in B'port, I would say Bulls by 8. Also have visions of a missed extra point being critical here. I'll be the one in the blue shirt in the Decatur stands in case your on the other side.

RangerJim... right now I am in California and have a flight out of SFO at 6:10am PST. I am trying to take NOOOOOO chances that I get stuck in Cali and miss this game!

I agree the game is close... I also believe the game is high scoring.... probably in the 30s. I am predicting 38-35 Bulls.

And you won't be able to miss me... I will be the big guy waving the flag up in the Bulls stands....

I've arranged for a military plane escort to make sure you get back to wise county in time for the game. Just look out your window. Tried to get the Sheriff Deputies to give you a ride home from the airport but something about having to set up speed traps on US 380 before the game goofed it up.............

10-12-2007, 02:24 PM
LOL, yeah I absolutely believe that re: speedtraps. I really don't worry to much about the speedtraps any more... I am too busy swerving to avoid Rock Trucks to notice.

YES.... I have touched down in Texas, (Thank GOD!), and am ready for the game.

Missed extra point by B'port ended up causing overtime. Give the Bulls credit tho - came back from 14 down with 5 minutes left in the game - a great game that always makes you feel bad someone has to lose. Decatur 48-44 in OT

Wow... What a game! Tough, tough loss for the Bulls.... good win for the Eagles.

Now we see what Argyle has to say about this district!
