Did you know that the Brownfield Cubs were officially undefeated?? They were losing to 2A Lubbock Roosevelt 8-6 in the 2nd Quarter when the game was delayed and eventually cancelled because of lightning. Some websites and newspapers list them as 4-1 but they are officially 4-0.

Brownfield is a much better team than last year's 3-8 team, but they are untested, having a pretty weak schedule. QB is a former Brownfield player who moved to Lubbock to play at one of the 5A schools, but now has moved back to Brownfield for his junior year. He and Matt Hernandez are each averaging over 100 yds a game of rushing. Not much of a passing game.

As Wilber stays healthy, the Greenwood offense gets better. Defense has played well most of the season.

Greenwood should win but I look for a close game.

Here's the matchup

Midland Greenwood 4-1
Graham L 0-20
2A Crane W 17-14
4A Lubbock Estacado W 25-16
4A San Angelo Lake View W 35-28
Levelland W 27-13

Rushing
Kinsey Williams 343 yds, 2 TDs
Colton Wilber 247 yds, 3 TDs
Willie Dains 212 yds, 4 TDs

Passing
Noe Rodriguez 171 yds, 2 TDs
Colton Wilber 134 yds, 0 TDs

Receiving
Brandon Herring 150 yds, 0 TDs
Blake McColloch 95 yds, 1 TD
Colby Gilbert 89 yds, 1 TD

Brownfield 4-0
2A Shallowater W 34-25
2A Lubbock Roosevelt Cancelled
Lamesa W 47-7
2A Slaton W 36-13
2A Denver City 26-0

Rushing
Matt Hernandez 419 yds, 5 TDs
Chris Davis 418 yds, 7 TDs
Josh Burkett 124 yds, 0 TDs

Passing
Chris Davis 74 yds, 2 TDs

Receiving
Eli Garcia 46 yds, 1 TD
Kodey Dixon 28 yds, 1 TD

Who cares what happened against a particular opponent in 2006, this is a new season. Nothing that happened in 2006 will affect this season.

Oh yeah.....by the way....Snyder "rolled" them 41-12 in the playoffs.

Greenwood STEAM rolled them 55-6 in the season!!:D :D

I'm sure it's happened before, but I cant remember Brownfield ever having a good football team. I know they've played lots and lots of homecoming games down through the years.

Sadly for Brownfield, Dalhart has vastly improved the last couple of years and are no longer the easy W they once were.

From LubbockOnline.com (http://www.lubbockonline.com/stories/100507/hig_100507034.shtml)

Midland Greenwood at Brownfield 7:30 p.m., Cub Stadium

• Radio: KKUB 1300 AM (Brownfield)

• Records: Greenwood 4-1, Brownfield 4-0

• Last week: Greenwood beat Levelland 27-13; Brownfield beat Denver City 26-0

• Players to watch: Greenwood, RB Willie Dains (rushed for 212 yards and four TDs); Brownfield, QB Chris Davis (two rushing TDs, one passing TD vs. Denver City)

• Quick hits: Greenwood must be able to corral Brownfield's rushing attack, which accounted for nearly 300 yards last week. The Cubs already have one more victory than they did last season.

• Our pick: Brownfield

I agree. If we do that we should win easily. If we have trouble stopping the run, it could be anybody's game in a high scoring contest.

This is a hard one to pick. While Brownfield has been more dominate in their wins, Greenwood has shown the tenacity to prevail in close games.

While I'm pulling for the Rangers, something tells me the Cubs will win.

Greenwood will roll. Brownfield may be undefeated, but they have only beaten bad 2A teams and a terrible 3A team.

Looks to me like Greenwood is a solid top 25 team, and will be a tough out for Andrews or Snyder
