Carthage has given 4-1 Pittsburg its only loss and beaten 2A Newton, which previously had roughed up Carthage's 20-3A district mate Crockett. Carthage is clearly on the rise.

That makes no sense..Crocket beat Newton 21-9..and Henderson is not a good 4a team..not sure how they can say carthage at 2-2 is on the rise

How about Super Dave showing Sweetwater some love on his mid season picks. Haven't heard from any Snyder fans yet, but they probably haven't seen this yet.

Like I said yesterday. This bracket will not be easy for anybody. There are some good teams in this bracket and only one can survive. Dave Campbells picks kind of surprised my, but Sweetwater has shown everyone something the last three weeks.

I agree with the assessment of West Oso. They're gonna be a tough out for anyone this year, and their 2 stud RB's, Howard and Foxx, are only juniors I believe.

Given that Gonzales has the highest enrollment and other than Palacios and Cuero..... the rest of the district is 1-4?

I lived in Sweetwater once, actually twice. There are no dumb people from SW only rednecks.

Me to! Gonzales only has to win two games and they are Div-1. It does look like Cuero and Palacios will be 1 and 2 in 29-3A. That means the Gonzales has to beat Goliad and Yoakum, both at 1-4. I am don't sure but they must be seeing something we are not.

Gonzales has to end district play at 1-3 or 0-4 for Cuero to go DIV-1 which does not look like is going to happen. But the Football Gods like to play sometimes.

Am I right with this??

Sweetwater and Graham in the region I quarter-finals...

If we played again does that flip home at home apply? Cause I know the last time we played yall in the playoffs we had to play yall in SW because of that flip.

Obviously I love the prediction, considering there was no love for Cuero in that magazine this year, BUT

Gonzales will be in the playoffs, most likely fighting for second with Palacios.

Cuero goes DII unless Gonzales totally tanks out the rest of the season.

What are the odds on that? How are they fairing this year?

Goliad and Yoakum are just BAD this year, even though both won their last games, they wont win more than 1 game in district. Goliad has just their qb and his one reciever, and absolutely no size or speed. the only speed is from those 2 positions.
Yoakum has a lot of young kids, but a stud qb, who knows maybe the rivalry b/w Cuero/Yoakum/Goliad/Gonzales can produce some emotion filled upsets.

But I guarantee you Palacios gets second.

Gonzales talks a lot of smack and does a lot of head bobbing on the field, not much football playin' especially around district time.

But I guarantee you Palacios gets second.

Okay . . . unbiased now . . . how does Cuero look compared to last year?

JT44
10-04-2007, 04:04 PM
I think the same potential as last year, with a more potent running attack. The passing game is about the same, only last year there was 2 long ball threats, this year there's only one wr that's a long threat, the others come out of the backfield.

as far as I am concerned, anything after the 3rd round is great, it'll be more than last year and those guys deserve to shine just like past teams

Johnny 5
10-04-2007, 04:06 PM
The way it is looking, you guys will either play us (Rio Hondo) again or PI . . . depending on who gets district champ in 32-3A

10-04-2007, 04:11 PM
Im just surprised they have Wimberley going to the regional finals vs Rio Hondo cause that would be great considering were 1-4.

Johnny 5

But was that against tough teams, or average teams?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think that rule only applies to back to back years.

If Graham had a chance to get past the 1st round during Bourquin's tenure there that was the year. Those boys were good. Me and some buddies were bored the other night and watched highlight films from that season.

Don't let the record fool you. They may not be the Texans of the last 2-3 years, but they're not chopped liver, either. How far they'll go in the playoffs, I wouldn't guess. But I would be completely surprised if they were one and done.

my "guarantee" was before district, gonzales got their say two weeks ago at palacios, but it wasn't easy for them, palacios misses all three extra points and loses 20-18

easy to say now that gonzales has only one district game left

Lombardi
10-29-2007, 12:55 PM
Gonzales also missed an extra point and fumbled on the palacios 7 yard line to put the game out of reach.... 2 ways to look at that...
