Pete Carroll (USC... the one on the west coast)- The dynasty of the millenium, Pete Carroll would be numero uno on the wish list of any college anywhere against any competition.
Urban Meyer (UF)- His teams have played into January for two of the last three years, going to bowl games each of the last four, winning all four. Has also been named national coach of the year by at least one major publication three of the last four years.
Bob Stoops (OU)- How many times has he been to the BCS NC game now? Three? Four?
Jim Tressel (OSU)- The coach of one of the five best teams of the millenium. Has appeared in two national titles and won one since coming back to Columbus after winning four with Youngstown State.
Steve Spurrier (USC... the one on the East Coast)- The ol' Ball Coach has proven he still has it. After losing his two best offensive players last to graduation/the NFL and then losing his best defensive player to an injury, he still has the Gamecocks in the running for the SEC East crown. Has also shown the ability to evolve, going from his old Fun 'n Gun system made fun at Florida to a ball control offense to complement the defense that Tyrone Nix has built.
Les Miles (LSU)- The head coach of the best team in the nation since halfway through the 2006 season. Tiger fans have gone from wondering about the hire to wondering if they'll be able to keep him this spring.
Jim Leavitt (USF)- Turned the largest universities in the nation without a varsity program into a D-IA football powerhouse in a decade.
Mark Richt (UGA)- The most underrated coach in the game.
Greg Schiano (Rutgers)- See Jim Grobe. Not the coach, but every bit the game-planner.
Jim Grobe (WF)- Took over Kirk Ferentz's title last year as the coach who does the most with the least. May not be as good a game-planner as a guy like Tommy Tuberville, but him and his staff coach players better than anyone in the nation.
