What will their excuse be this year?

A billy Goat?
Black Cat?
Leon Durham?
Steve Bartman?

One thing you can count on is that whatever fate happens to the Cubs this playoff season, an irrational explanation is sure to follow:D

If you watch ESPN you'd think the only 3 teams in the playoffs are the Cubs, Yankees, and Red Sox.

They've mentioned the Phils a few times too.

LOL..........I got my Sporting News MLB playoff preview and granted, it was printed sometime last week. But there was NO mention in it anywhere of the Colorado Rockies:confused:

Plenty of stuff about the Mets & Padres, tho................

SI came in the mail today and has all of the matchups...including the Phillies vs. Rockies...they're still the best sporting magazine around.

We may have an answer: Sweet Lou goes brain dead and lifts Zambrano after 85 pitches, saving him for a game that isn't guaranteed to happen, only to see the bullpen lose the game in the very next inning.

i thought the Cubs would win this series with the D-backs missing Orlanda Hudson he jump started this team throughout the year but as said on an earlier thread by i think crazyjournalist its all about pitching and I think the D-Backs have the best still playing in the NL in Brandon Webb

being a hardcore cubs fan i wrote a song last night.. called Win Cubbies Win! It's a little bit of a rough draft so bare with me..

Verse 1:
Heart break after Heart break for the last hundred years,
Either watch it on WGN or attend and drink some beers,
We’ve done a thousand 7th inning stretches to state who we’re routin’ for,
Hoping that this is the year where the Cubbies curse is no more,

Chorus:
We even put lights on the ol’ Wrigley field,
We’ve supported the red, white, and blue for years and years and years,
We sang with Harry Carry and always stayed true,
Winning the World series cubbies is the least that you could do

Verse 2:
Now I’m not sayin its your fault ‘cuz we have a curse to blaim,
Ever since that lady cursed our team for not getting her goat in the game,
In 2003 we were so dang close but then there was that foul ball,
When one destined fan reached over and saved the curse for us all

Chorus:
We even put lights on the ol’ Wrigley field,
We’ve supported the red, blue, and white for years and years and years,
We sang with Harry Carry and always stayed true,
Winning the World Series cubbies is the least you could do

After each time we come so close the fans always remain,
Another season for the vines to grow and afternoon ball games,
“I think this is the year” says Johnny.. we shall wait and see,
Even if we had the great Babe himself it’d be hard to believe!

Chorus:
We even put lights on the ol’ Wrigley field,
We’ve supported the red, blue, and white for years and years and years,
We sang with Harry Carry and always stayed true,
Winning the World Series cubbies is the least that you could do

So save me another heartbreak and go and win it all,
We promise are fans will keep their hands away from the foul balls,
We owe it to Harry, Ernie Banks and the rest,
Both Sox have ended their curses and we shall be next

The return of the corked bat should do it.

Where is Sammy when you need him.
