They're bound and determined to have Llano in these rankings for some unknown reason.

Most of it. Including Llano to me comes across as a writer putting a friend's team in the poll. Rankings are meaningless, but it's still funny to see them ranked.

EDIT: Not including Velt is a joke, but I'm not that shocked to see that from them. I guess they just don't pay that much attention to DISD football. Heck if they were a region over they'd be the favorite to make it out of the D1 bracket.

Not everyone in the district has the option to play several non-district games outside of the area. Carter gets to do it because they have Allen Wilson and well because they're Carter and it's the district's marquee name.

The schedule Velt has played is markedly tougher than what Llano and several others have played. Maybe Daniels should go to Jeff Johnson and see about getting Brady on the schedule next season.

That is a little bit nuts, no disrespect to Llano. Considering Brady was AHEAD at the half, I'm clueless as to Llano being there. Again, no disrespect to Brady, but in 2 1/2 seasons they've won 3 games - 2005 winless, 2006 1 win over Ingram, 2007 wins over Ingram and Comanche.

seriously ... can't the coach find his own non-district games or does DISD do it all?

Kimball always has a good non-dist

Glen is doing a fine job in Brady
They are headed in the right direction
ya know the parents have a lot to do with that
DNA is a big factor
but some get lucky and get to ride the coatails of some good DNA
Best of luck Glen
See ya in Austin
our Rams are having a hard time

I said nothing about the coach and what kind of job he is or isn't doing. And I'm sure they are headed in the right direction, but they're 2A.....and they LED Llano at the half.....and they have not had success the last 2 1/2 seasons, which makes me question WHY Llano would be in the top 25 when I'm certain there are teams doing better that were left off.

Again the district still has a big say in who gets to travel and how far. There's 22 high schools in the district now. It's not like a one horse town like Forney or some of the other outlying towns around Dallas where all the money goes to one school. I don't agree with Carter, Kimball, Lincoln and occasionally SOC or Woodrow getting the better games, but they've been winning the most so oh well.

However marquee teams in the district have an easier time getting bigger non-district games. Velt has not been a marquee team for DISD for about a decade. Kimball, like Carter, gets more leeway in scheduling due to the success they've had. DISD is going to want to see their name schools get in the bigger games and hope that the district makes a good showing. It also didn't hurt in Kimball's case that their coach was an assistant at Lufkin if I remember right.

Even if Velt keeps things rolling next season I'd be interested as to who Daniels would go schedule outside the area if given the chance. He's spent the prior two decades coaching at a junior high in DISD and my guess would be he goes with teams he's familiar with in the area.

Let's compare the schedules.

Llano 26 Marble Falls 14
Llano 40 Comanche 13
Lexington 41 Llano 33
Llano 22 Taylor 8
Llano 32 Brady 23

That's 2 wins against mediocre 3A teams, 1-1 against 2A schools and a win against a mediocre 4A team. Something isn't adding up here with their ranking.

The opponent this week.

Tivy 23 @ San Marcos 14
Tivy 40 Judson 21
Tivy 38 SA Lakeview 13
Tivy 27 NB Canyon 0

This one could get really, really ugly real fast.

If you only knew how much of that stuff I've had to buy for folks up here when I go home. I brought it up once and got folks to try it and now I wind up bringing some back everytime. Elgin Sausage has a whole market up here they're missing out on.

The topic was about how weak teams can make the poll. One person joked that was why Llano was ranked (good bbq) so I asked then whats Taylor's excuse (because they have Mikeska's). A third guy mentioned Elgin and my logic was that Elgin might have good BBQ but they have a team that isn't half bad so it didn't match the same logic like the other 2. Plus they are 4a
