First I've heard of that. Son goes to school with him and hasn't said anything. But that doesn't mean anything sometimes he forgets things.

Monahans vs. No. 6 Graham

When/where: 7:30 p.m., McMurry University's Wilford Moore Stadium, Abilene

Radio: KLBO (1330 AM, Monahans)

Records: Monahans 1-2, Graham 4-0

Last game: Andrews 41, Monahans 13; Graham 34, Glen Rose 16

Players to watch: Monahans, QB/DB Steven Valles (5-10, 180, Sr.), RB/LB Clay Anthony (5-10, 170, Sr.), RB/LB Christian Poynor (5-7, 150, Jr.); Graham, QB Case McCoy (6-2, 170, Soph.), RB Jake Holub (5-9, 195, Sr.), LB Trevor Sparks (6-0, 185, Sr.)

Monahans head coach Mickey Owens' quote: "Graham is the best opponent we'll play. They can line up and run you over or run the spread."

Notables: The Loboes are coming off a disappointing performance in which they turned the ball over five times, including three on kickoff returns, against Andrews. Owens said it was a game his team would rather forget and his team was its own worst enemy. Owens added his team needs to take a step forward in tonight's game since his team took a step back against Andrews. ... Monahans won't have FB Stephen Neel (concussion) for tonight's game and Owens said he plans to alternate several players in the backfield. ... Graham is off to a great start and the Steers are showing great balance as McCoy has thrown for 672 yards and five TDs, while Holub has rushed for 594 yards and six TDs. ... Graham defeated Monahans 14-7 last year.

Next game: Monahans at Pecos, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5; Dallas Bishop Lynch at Graham, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5

Even though I think they will lose this one, they still are very capable of winning district and going atleast 2 rounds deep. They just are having a bad year so far and let's face it they are young in skill positions.

Very good point. Once district starts it doesn't mean squat what your pre-district record is. It's about the finish, going as far in the playoffs as you can.
