We had a discussion this morning at work over what a Yoeman was. Can anyone verify what a Yoeman is. Thanks

A Yoeman is a farmer who owned his own land. :D

well that explination is about at wrong as you could be...but ill let it slide

A Yoemen is a mideval era robin hood type person. It is actually spelled Yeomen, but the Yoe family gave the land and money for the school so we are the Cameron Yoe Yoemen

After the death of Charles Yoe in 1921, his wife, Caroline, gave the money to buy land and build a new high school for Cameron. The citizens of Cameron named the school after her husband C.H. Yoe. The community built a new high school in 2004, but the old high school building is still standing today and is used for some school offices and events.

When I was a young kid, about 7 or 8, we were playing Cameron and I never did understand back then why y'all were the Cameron Yoe Yoemen. I didn't figure it out until I broadcast a game for Gatesville against y'all several years ago...lol. I found the story to be very unique when it was told me.

Good ole C. H. Yoe High. I spent four wonderful years in this building.
