Stockton has had them forever. That's strange that GW doesn't.

Forney had them when I was in HS.

Sinton has a parade followed by the burning of the "S" - that is a new tradition. I think the 1992 senior class was the last one to have a true bon fire.

well I wouldn't call it a huge bonfire like those of past years, these days it is more of a pallet pile. Still lots of fun for everyone.

We have the powder puff game and then the band marches to the bonfire with the burning G and the cheerleaders are up on a semi trailer leading cheers while the huge bonfire goes up in flames!!

Year before last everyone was freaking out because right before they lit it...a kitten ran into the pile of wood....and we weren't even playing a "cat related" team!!

So, did the cat get roasted?

No.

We used to a bonfire, but they decided to stop letting us.

We got permission to do one this year, but never found land for it.

wow..we don't do anything for homecoming...no parade no bonfire...

we only get a bonfire for the playoffs...

a friend a I spent four days building a sweet bonfire for the playoffs against Wharton, we had 12 trailers full of brush, pallets, and wood

The last bonfire I remember here was 1996 (I think). Normally, there's a burn ban around that time. No parade, but we do have a community-wide pep rally at the field Wednesday night.

When I was in High School and probably 30 years before that the bonfire was built by the seniors at the city dump. Parade was a HUGE affair with a downtown pep rally afterwards (still is). They have since done away with the bonfire because the dump has closed and no one wants the liability of it- pretty sad. That was probably the most fun I had my senior year!!!!

AP had ours last week. No floats, but had the band, football players, cheerleaders and a bunch of neat vehicles (I drove my daughter in a brand new, showroom floor Corvette...talk about nervous...I almost made myself sick)

Anyway, the parade leads to the stadium for a community pep rally and burning of the AP. We had a really good turnout and seems to be getting better each year. I think we have been doing the parade for the last 5 or so years.

Sinton's homecoming is next week. We have a parade, a burning of the "S"(the nice pic in my sig ;) ), and a powder puff game. It's a fun week.

wylie doesnt do floats and parades any more. they stopped it after my freshman year because some of the seniors broke into a garage or something and destroyed one of the under classmans floats
