3afan

this is tough because ISDs dont always match city limits - in fact they rarely do

example Stafford ISD is one 3A HS - but Stafford has 19K+ people but it also has Fort Bend ISD

well, if you're just asking which city is the largest and has a 3A school, I'm going with Dallas.

but Abilene ISD had other HSs - Abilene is disqualified

is Wylie HS even in the AISD?

this is a very interesting question and one that i have asked myself on several occasions. i hunt, and frankly i hunt alot. so over the years i have seen most of texas. gainsville certainly comes to mind as one of the bigger towns in 3a. one that i have seen to be failed to mention is Decatur. every time i go through there i wonder how in the heck a town like little ole Gilmer can be in the same class. hell i think they have an IHOP. whats up with that:D...............maybe is is just because all of the town is right on 287 so i see most of it. looks like a really nice town to me. seems to be very clean and not run down. but hey........what do i know, i'm usually going about 85 or 90 when passing through:D

P.S. any 3a towns have a Starbucks?

Gainesville, I'd guess,is the largest. Taylor has just short of 14,000. Good question, though.

I've often wondered myself how some cities with more than 4,000 or 5,000 can have schools smaller than 3A. Maybe retirement communities where the average age is older, not sure.

The population of Gainesville is hovering at around 17,000.

And yes, Gainesville has a Starbucks. It also has a Hampton Inn, Cracker Barrel, Applebee's, Chili's, Arby's, the 4th largest Super Wal-Mart (as of 2003...probably not anymore), The Home Depot, and a host of other new restaurants, shops, and soon-to-be new high school.

With that said, I will never, ever move back to Gainesville.

South Lake Cuero... it's on the South side... Pop. is 63,000,000 but the main high school Cuero High gets all the good players.

Some of the Wylie school district is within the city limits, probably about 60%(just a guess). The rest is spread out into a little town call Potosi and out towards Buffalo Gap. The school is located in the city limits, but hasn't always been there. The growth south has taken in the schools over the last 15 to 20 years. There is no town called Wylie, at least here. There is one around Dallas.
