And it was the first time in MLB history that a 500th home run was also a walkoff homerun. Couldn't have happened to a better guy!

IMO he is not a hall of famer. The 500 hr club is a watered down club

i think he'll get in but not on the first ballot -- he is pretty far down on the active RBI list, has not finished in the top 3 for MVP voting ... also will depend on who else is on the ballot with him

I would say you're right if he retired this year. He's only 36 and is now playing DH 90% of the time. He should play of lot of games each year and if he just plays 2 more years he will be in the top 20 in HRs and top 50 in RBIs. That will be hard to overlook.

And don't forget the media likes him fairly well. It's unfortunate but that does come into play on first time ballots.

They definitely were. And #14 was quite fond of it too.

I'll play devil's advocate here.

A player who is #23 all-time in Home Runs and #68 in RBI's (and climbing) wouldn't be considered one of the best all time in the 100+ years of baseball?

He really hasn't done anything in the post season to say man that guy is a sure hall of famer. That's all I'm saying. Sure his numbers are good but other than that there isn't anything that says man this guy is for sure first ballot hall of famer.
