'Twas The Night Before Christmas (Texas style)

'Twas the night before Christmas, in Texas, you know.
It’s a good 70 degrees this time of year so there ain’t no snow.
Asleep in our double wide, were me and Chelsea Sue.
On the floor beside me was Revielle and a spit can for my chew.
Visions of Football and Rodeo danced round in our heads,
For this is Texas, what more need be said?
When all of a sudden, from out of the still night,
There came such a dern ruckus, it gave me a fright.
As I peeked out the winder, I saw like a shot from a gun,
A man on a loaded up buckboard, come towards my trailer at a run,
The driver was "Geein" and "Hawin", with a will,
He had steers (not reindeer) that he drove with such skill.
I heard him call out as to my trailer they arose…
”On Lone Star, On Copenhagen, Bevo & Yellow Rose”.
The driver was Santa in Wranglers and a shirt that was red,
Had spurs on his boots and a ten-gallon Stetson on his head.
As he stepped from the buckboard, he was really a sight,
With his beard and moustache, so curly and white.
He came in the trailer and headed straight for the tree,
Awaiting him were hot wings and Bud Light….his Christmas goodies.
He was a chubby and plump ole man with a jolly demeanor.
And instead of elves, he had the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders!
He had a flask of whiskey in his back pocket and dip tucked in his teeth,
And he laughed at the sight of my beer can wreath.
When he winked his eye, I knew that he would treat us right,
I was hoping he would leave a shotgun and wild turkey for me tonight.
He piled presents under the tree til there weren’t no more,
Then he called on his Cowgirls and went quietly out the door.
He got back on his buckboard and started to take off in the night,
It was such a beautiful thing seeing Longhorns in flight!
And as they flew away, I heard Santa say with a Texan Drawl,
”God Bless and Merry Christmas Y’all!”
