What do you think Pirates? Has the off-week helped the team any?

Beeville is fresh off a huge letdown against New Braunfels, allowing the Unicorns to take a 30-27 victory after heading into the locker room at halftime leading 27-3. A balanced Beeville offense has put up impressive numbers this season, with QB Eric Soza hitting on 55% of his passes for 670 yards and 7 TDs with two INTs. His favorite targets have been Robert Elizalde and Richie Mendoza, with 2 and 3 touchdown grabs apiece. A stable of about 10 running backs have all had touches for the Trojan running game, with Mendoza pacing the unit with over 100 yards and 2 scores.

Defensively, the first team defense allowed its first points of the season in last night's effort. The unit was unable to create any turnovers after having caused 11 in its first two outings. LB Elizalde paces South Texas with 4 interceptions, while Mendoza, Oscar Banda, Frank Warner, and Matt Botello have each had a pick apiece. The defense has used a three-man front to combat the three no-huddle spread offenses it has faced. Against New Braunfels, the three-man front was exploited for over 300 yards rushing, while the secondary did manage to hold the Unicorns to 124 yards passing.

This game is going to show Sinton how much they'll have to rebuild.

I'm thinking Soza might hit the 1000 yard passing mark Friday night.

The true die hards will be there. I hope our boys can get the monkey off their back and score some points tonight! They had a good week of practice and continue to do what is asked of them. I know it's been a rough start and may continue tonight, but they need to remember, as do the "fans" that they are working to prepare for the REAL season!!

GOOD LUCK PIRATES!!!

Too bad to hear it's like that right now for Sinton. That always bugs me. Never have thought too much of bandwagon fans. If you aren't going to be there when you're getting blown out, don't bother showing up when the roles are reversed.

Hope your Pirates get better as the year goes on!

Sinton is no different that any other town - all will draw better when they are winning - NO EXCEPTIONS

Sure aren't, but I still think you should be there to support them win or lose. All those folks that say it's "about the kids" and then only bother to show up when "the kids" are winning show that it really isn't about the kids. Heck I'm going to go watch Madison get beat like they stole something tomorrow night, but I'd rather be there when things are rough instead of when we're riding high.

The Pirates finally find the endzone for the first time this season. I was planning on going, but money is kind of tight for me right now.

Sinton's offense actually moved the ball pretty well. Wes was just about unstoppable on his QB keepers. You'd think after facing three no-huddle spread offenses which primarily run QB keepers, that we'd learn how to stop it by week 3 but no, we still have not. Any word on Trent Hesseltine? He hobbled off the field late in the second quarter and I don't think I saw him playing in the second half.

Good game, as always Pirates. :D

Injuries are why I have always said we don't have any business playing 4A schools. There should be enough 3A schools to schedule. We played two great games with Raymondville a few years ago.

Injuries can happen no matter who you play. We've had players injured playing 2A schools before. Lost one for the season on the first play of the game against Taft 2 years ago.

The whole idea is to play better competition in pre-district to get ready for district opponents. Of course, you run the risk of getting blown out and demoralized by it, but the staff should be on top of it and not let the team get down on themselves.

This particular year is an uphill battle for our Pirates due in part to graduation, new coach, new system and a tough pre-district schedule. In the end analysis, once we figure out how to compete with the better opponents, we should benefit from it greatly.

Phil C 3 A schoolls would not play Sinton . Sinton was kicking them in the past and know one like to get kicked. I think the schedule will change after this year.

Given that our enrollment is very near the 1000 mark, its possible that Beeville might be a district foe for Sinton next year unless they send us to Cuero's district.

Pirates have shown improvements and i do think they can turn this season around once district starts. Ring showed some speed from QB spot.

He sure did. Runs low, hard and fast. Both QBs got very little help from their WRs as there were plenty of dropped balls, but that'll improve in the weeks to come. I was impressed by the pressure ya'll d-line managed to put on our QB.
