Interesting story. Growing up in Vernon, my best friend's father was a local attorney named Ney "Red" Sheridan who I once read about in Pro Football Digest. The article was actually about Sammy Baugh. It said that Sammy started his football career in Sweetwater as Red Sheridan's blocking back. Red was a QB for UT back in the 30's and also held the Southwest Conference punting record for 16 years. His son now lives on Long Island in NY. Does anyone out in Sweetwater remember Ney Sheridan or ever talk about him?
