Monahans
The Loboes were another team that got off to an impressive start in their season opener with a 41-32 victory over then No. 5 Snyder.
Monahans gained 401 total yards against a solid Snyder team, and at one point, scored 21 unanswered points to take over the lead.
"I thought our kids gave a great effort and really competed hard," Monahans coach Mickey Owens said. "It was good for us to take the opening drive down the field and score. If there was any doubt that we could compete with Snyder, that erased it right there."
Owens added the win also gives the Loboes, especially the young players, a big confidence boost for the rest of the season, but added his team can't get too overconfident.
Monahans is off this week and Owens said they will use that time to work on conditioning and fine-tuning its kicking game, which showed some flaws last Thursday
