it was named after Justin Wakeland, who was Superintendent of Schools in the FISD from 1978-1997 for a total of 19 years.

Mascot: Wolverines
Colors: Dark Orange and Dark Blue

Their jerseys do not look like syracuse. They are more like the Florida Gator jerseys.

Wakeland finished 3-7 last year (1-6 in district). Since this year has its first class of seniors, the team returns 11 starters on offense and 10 starters on defense.

Celina and Wakeland played last year at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco. It's a really nice place to watch a game on Friday nights. This year the game is in Celina.

I was impressed last year with the Wolverines skill position players (especially for their first year at the varsity level). They should be much improved this year and certainly compete for 3rd place with PP.

Think they can handle Prosper?

I really see Prosper having too much talent for them. On a side note: I'm looking forward to seeing Celina match up against All-State TE Thompson for Prosper this year.

More facts on Wakeland:

Base offense: one-back spread
Base defense: 4-4
2006 PPG: 33.0
2006 Opp. PPG: 29.0

Frisco just might be the third team this year. They were solid last year and well coached. I expect them to be salty.
