Backe looks ok - command is off as expected - velocity ok too. Lots of bad luck so far for our hitters. That's baseball I know! See what happens. Need more players like Pence, plays the game right.

Hopefully Patton gets 3 or 4 more starts in preperation for next year. then you have Roy, Patton, Backe and a slew of of pooh slingers to start '08.

Holding Patton back for next home start vs. Pitt. Concerned about his # of innings this year...

Next year unless major changes:

Oswalt
need #2 - not Jennings - trade or FA
Backe
Albers
Patton

Wandy always finds a way to make it because he is a LHP. Hopefully bullpen guy!

Position players for me:

C need #1 guy (Towles not ready, maybe Gimenez), keep Ausmus as solid #2 & veteran presence
1B Berkman
2B Loretta (but not likely, probably Burke)
SS need upgrade w/ bat
3B Wigginton (but not my choice, signed & cheap, ok player)
LF Lee
RF Pence
CF FA (maybe T. Hunter??)

**Hope Mike Lamb is brought back; solid bat but below avg. 3B

Pen:

Lidge
Qualls
major upgrade needed here down

Lots of work to do for new GM & meddlesome owner McLane!

If the Astros could get Torii Hunter that would rock...

don't bet on it...my guess is he's wearing pinstripes next year.

Probably right, he turned down Twins offer already. I wanted Byrnes maybe too but he re-signed with Arizona. Gotta find another OF, C, SS, #2 pitcher, & bullpen help. Lots of holes.

Address pitching 1st & go from there.

Anybody see Ryan Braun of the Brewers showboating after his homer last night? Berkman said something to him as he rounded first. Rookies...

He'll probably dig one out of his ribs next time around.

He'll probably dig one out of his ribs next time around. That's what disappoints me about this team. The next time he came up to bat he should have been plunked. There's just no fire in this team.:(

Is there a video anywhere online of this?

Happy with being mediocre. And with Biggio leaving there will be ZERO FIRE.:(

I haven't seen one, but if I do I'll post it.

Spring Training '08 has officially started for the Astros. Lots of new faces in the lineup these days.

He apologized to C Munson the next time up. It was a bush league move but at least he got the message.

Yeah...his own manager was lecturing him in the dugout when he came back in. He looked pretty embarassed.

Yeah Ned Yost got after him pretty good. Never show someone up & play the game right.

Braun played at Miami & from Cali, so not unexpected. He's a showboat & horrible fielder, but kid can flat hit.
