Top 25s: 1A gets shakeup; every class adds at least one new team

Several teams in Class 1A might be ready for district play already.

A handful Class 1A teams ranked in the Top 10 opened their seasons against Class 2A opponents -- but not all of them survived. Bremond, Shiner and Windthorst all dropped in the 1A rankings while losing to 2A teams.

However, all wasn't lost for 1A teams: San Augustine, Sundown and Thrall all came out on top of higher-classified teams.

In 5A, Plano debuted in the rankings after upsetting Mesquite, while Austin High dropped out after a loss to Round Rock Westwood.

Three teams made their first appearances in 4A: Nederland, Schertz Clemens and Everman, while Gregory-Portland, CC Flour Bluff and Fossil Ridge were knocked out of the rankings.

Class 3A lost just one team in Midland Greenwood, allowing Monahans to enter the rankings.

Likewise, only one team (Boyd) dropped out of 2A. East Chambers debuts this week after a 35-0 win over 3A Shepherd.
