The link works just fine. But because the big 12 has a horrible TV contract you can't watch it until 11 central.

The game is on the radio all over the state anyways, glad I have a normal fm/am radio

Colt ran playaction and threw it to the fullback (can't think of his name, not Tiemann) for a td out of the I.

Ark St is driving. Started on own 10, ball currently on UTs 25

14-3 end of first.

Fullback who caught 2nd TD was Antwann Cobb

Absolutely horrible. Defense isn't even trying until they're on the other side of the 50. And the offense, barring the two big TD passes, hasn't gotten into a true rhythm.

sloppy game all around.

14-3 half.

Texas Lowlights:

--Defense is giving up a ton of yards and letting ASU control the game. Gotta stop 3rd downs.
--Colt seems to be telegraphing his passes. He's looking receivers the whole way.
--Way too many penalties (both sides)
--Orakpo is injured:(

Highlights:

--When their back has been against the wall, defense has responded. Okam looks like a beast when he tries. He just needs to try every play.
--Limas is BACK. He didn't look injured at all. I'm impressed--that guy wants to be a top 10 draft pick and is showing it.
--Jamal Charles is running really tough, almost a 180 degree turn from last year.
--Its game one, and theres still a half to play. If you judge a team by one half, you judge too early

Its taking 3 people to take Charles down at any time. I've actually been very impressed with his game tonight. However, its pretty hard to run it in when 2 guys meet you 3 yds in the backfield every short yardage play.

I know the o-line is new, but they need to gel. And fast.

I am NOT in a good mood right now.

They're not pushing the line when it matters. Jamal is getting his yards by getting to the outside, and dragging guys when he gets hit. I'm very impressed with him so far.

ARKANSAS STATE RECOVERS ONSIDE KICK!

Illegal formation though, did not have 4 men on each side of the kicker.

Whew, after long discussion it is a foul.

BreckTxLonghorn
09-01-2007, 09:19 PM
That's an arguable flag too. They put the 4th man barely on the other side in my opinion.

Just hearing the announcers said that there were 12 men on the field. Confusing.

To be honest im disgusted at this performance, either they were sandbagging BIGTIME trying not to show to much for TCU or we just arent that good, either way we just had a really crappy 21-13 victory over a really crappy team. i dont care anyway you cut it, it wasnt pretty and that kind of performance will get us a big L next week and in the following weeks if it continues, I know its early.... but still. that was arkansas state..... next week should be interesting......

Reading lots of WE's in this thread...

Not impressive at all. Arkansas State - are you kidding me? Yes it's early but come on...

Killebrew with a big penalty? Big surprise there...brain surgeon & noted for flags. Great athlete & mediocre player.

21-13 vs. Ark St.? TCU is licking their chops to play Texas after shutting out Baylor without All American Tommy Blake. TCU may have offensive problems, but they will be ready.

A&M? So-so game but still 38-7 vs. same caliber opponent, maybe better. 38 unanswered pts. A&M's secondary got torched, but still 38-7. Both teams will improve but Texas nor its fans should be happy. Ugly game & better find a consistent running game or McCoy will be exposed. 2 tds, 2 ints vs. Ark State.

And Ark State was an onsides kick recovery away from tying this game with 6+2 on a drive after going 93 yds. to score. Unlikely, but never should be in this game late 4th quarter vs. TEXAS.

Ask Michigan how it feels if you don't show up. TCU next weekend should be fun...spin it Horns!

I said Arkansas State was good and was rediculed. They had been national champions in smaller school division and sure they didn't have a winning record last year but they had 14 starters returning. I also said they were going to be determined to show that Arkansas isn't the only good team in their state. Old Prophet Phil was right. I was rediculed by some on the board but now I am justified. After what happened to Michigan justifies me even more. Not that I am one to gloat or anything like that.

Was at the game last night. Love that the stands are now much closer to the field. Didn't love the performance of the football team. Defense had alot of success when blitzing, yet only did it a handful of times. The offensive gameplan was very vanilla. But when they did attack downfield they did have some success. Didn't really feel like we were ready to play. Hopefully this was a wake up call.

Well I actually went to the game, and I was not impressed. Texas played like crap. They played a very undisciplined game. My opinion is they came out with the big head syndrome and found out arkansas sta. can play ball. Ark. sta. has a stud QB, receiving core, and running back. They owned the defense, but the defense was over pursuing, playing no gap control, and getting burned in general. They would line up and run right at Derry. He would overcommit, and get eaten alive. Either they are better than they played because of their egos, ark. sta is better than they though, or the horns arent as good as everyone wanted them to be. PErsonally, I think it is a little of all three.

Feeling a little down after that performance huh? All I did was state facts & stats. You're not happy & I don't blame you. Texas will improve for sure but that was ugly.

Ark State had more 1st downs & more total yardage...
Ark State missed 2 FGs & threw an INT in the end zone; 4 times inside the 20 netted 0 pts.

Onsides kick recovery away from a crazy finish (illegal formation). Texas tried 4 runs inside the 5 & could not score. Colt had his good moments & also others - 2 picks & 2 others that should have been too.

No, I'm not a genius but I do know Texas is not a Top 5 team right now. OL & secondary problems, plus being physical in the running game is still an issue. TCU will be ready, I do know that too.

A&M has issues as well, no disputing that. Secondary got torched. Offense can score but defense must join the party. Time will tell for both teams. But, barely beating Ark State is simply not acceptable & every objective Horn knows it.

I agree g$$, I think Texas will improve, and will improve big time by the time OU rolls into Dallas. Id venture to say that Texas isnt top 25 caliber at this time. I think once all the pieces get put back together on the team in the next few weeks, they will be top 10 caliber once again. Problem is, that wont happen until AFTER TCU. That might get hairy Saturday. Yes, aTm has a ways to go also but all in all, id feel good about my team if I were an aggie fan. I think they are going to be able to pound some people. That secondary will get it figured out. If aTm wins the games they should win, look for good things.
