View Full Version : Homer Week 0 Hindsight and Prognostication Thread!

Obviously I am a Celina homer. And I am fairly certain that most members of this board are homers for at least one 3A team

So after watching a week zero game, I think it would be interesting to answer the following two questions, if you are willing. And then after week one, week two . . . etc.

Here are the two questions:

1. What 3A team are you a homer for?

2. After sitting in the stands this week and watching the game, do you feel like your team can win the championship?

I predict another WO-S vs. Giddings showdown in the 2nd round of the playoffs and would have to go with Giddings at this point. :crying:

but that could change....

1. The Great James Madison High School
2. lol...No not while we have 12 sophomores (Most of which start) on the field getting their first varsity snaps. Playoffs? Yes, but nowhere near a title this year.

1. I split time between Needville & Ingleside

2. Needville - didn't get to see but just over a QTR of play..and they dominated. Was very impressed w/ their D. To answer the question...doubtful a state title is in their future..but they ARE playoff bound. Ingleside - hear they had a tough time getting the O rolling w/ Coffield under center...once the change was made to the backup soph. QB they put up 22 in the 2nd half. If coach H leaves Coffield at a RB and develops this young QB...maybe the Mustangs go deep again this year.

Nope i agree and disagree with you. if they continue playing the way they did tonight(which i highly doubt) then they will not make it very far in playoffs. i do believe however that celina does have the tools to make it back to the state game and possibly win. thats what the predistrict is for, shaping....make a masterpiece now.

They're in DII in Region II. They won't have much in the way of resistance to winning the region again. If it was D1 in Region II then it would be a completely different story because that's the loaded bracket. I'll be surprised to see them have any of their four games in their bracket be closer than 2 touchdowns.

Now come on Benny. Let's look at this another way. Last year I bet no one thought Robinson was going all the way after our game did you? What if Robinson
plays a lot better defense than last year and nearly the same offense. Then add the fact that we looked sloppy on O. The game could have been better but we still controlled the game.

I'm not hitting a panic button.

I just thought this was a good idea for a thread. With this thread, next week is next week and my opinion can be turned 180 as can LHPM's (of course she is a mom).

What I think is clever about this thread, is the fact that each week gives us a new chance at re-opinionation (I just invented a new word, I think?)

I will let you know next week if Celina plays like champions. I am pulling for them! :D

you gotta have faith.

i saw some encouraging signs.

raley played good when you consider he's a sophmore making his first start. He will get better as he gets more experience.

also good to see a rb stepup besides holmes and grice, that being J-Will. Good to see him get that TD.

B-Port's not the same B-Port as they used to be.

Yea, we'kk be 1-2 or 0-3 going into district, but remember that these games are only for expereince.

true dat.....

raley played excellent until we tried to stage a comeback and then he threw 2 pics becuz he was trying to do too much

defense played very well in the first half, give credit where credit is due,

bport coaches made some excellent adjustments at the half

Well let me say that i liked what I saw from our defense. Our secondary did ok and the line backers were just awesome.
And of course that 52 is a stud on the line.

1.) Rio Hondo
2.) Iffy, but leaning to the yes side.

Based on last nights performance, Rio Hondo is much improved.

Rio Hondo is "reloading" and beat Weslaco East who returned almost everyone.

For a little reference, Weslaco East gave Rio Hondo the stiffest non district competition last year, with RH winning last year 28-14. It would have been 21-14 but RH returned an intercepted Hail Mary for the TD.

This year, RH beat the same team 51-0.

I agree with you, I have played both scrimages against RH and this year, yall were tougher...

The only adjustment they made was the same one we made last year in the 2nd half the Bellville and Silsbee playoff games. Give it to your best athlete and let him make plays. The White kid took over the game and practically beat us single handedly. (Besides the TO's and penalties) Great Athlete!
