Huge win for WOS. Garrett didn't play 2nd half.

Well, it was big for our offense when Garrett got booted, but it turned out GREAT. Our new junior QB, Hypolite (Hip-Oh-Light), stepped up and played like a natural-born winner. He was QB of the 10-0 JV team last year and the undefeated freshman team the year before. The kid knows how to win. He stepped up and took over the game when Garrett was ejected for retaliating. The sad thing is that Dayton's bench LITERALLY cleared onto the field, and even the coaches ran to our side (one punched our trainer). It was ugly, but it got the Stangs fired up. Dayton apparently has a recent history of brawls on the field.
We won this one.

DICIPLINE!! Dayton obviously has none. Its sad that their coaches were trying to fight also. Then they were embarrased by us.

The underclassmen at WOS did a terrific job. Man next year when those guys are SR's

Despite the fight, Dayton is highly touted in 22-4A. WO-S came back from 14-0 down to win against a good, district-championship-defending team from a 4A school.

Am I the only one that sees that as ominous?

All three of WO-S's pre-season games are against 4A teams: Dayton, Little Cypress - Mauriceville, and Bay City. If the 'stangs come out of that 3-0, then it looks like they'll have a fairly straight road up 'til Giddings or Waco La Vega.

My guess is that Hooks and the Mustangs would love a third-year-in-a-row match with the Fitzhenry boys.....

I agree! Their 2nd half was amazing.

If Dayton wins their district, it will be the fourth year in a row (all in 3A) that WO-S has beaten the eventual champs of that district. It will also be the 10th out of the last 11 seasons that we've either won that 4A district or beaten the eventual champs.
