Teen Could Face Charges For Skateboarding Death
(CBS 11 News) FLOWER MOUND A 16-year-old boy could face a manslaughter charge in the death of his best friend.
On August 22, police say 15-year-old Kyle Darroca was riding his skateboard while hanging onto the side of a moving SUV. It's called "skitching."
Darroca, an experienced skateboarder, was trying to execute a trick called an "ollie." That's a move in which the skateboarder jumps off of the board, flips it into the air, and lands back on the board.
Darroca fell while doing the "ollie" and was run over by the vehicle. He later died at Parkland Hospital.
As of 4 p.m. today, no charges had been filed but the teen could face charges.Today Flower Mound Police referred the case involving the 16-year-old driver of the SUV to the Denton County District Attorney's Office.
We talked to the driver's father today. He said, "This was a horrible accident. The boys were best friends. And I'm praying for the Darroca family and for my son."
