The Eagles traveled to Lumberton one week after facing West Orange-Stark, and took a step forward leading up to Saturday night’s season opener against Wharton. The game will be held at the neutral site of Pearland. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

“We did some things better,” Barbers Hill head coach Don Price said. “We have seen enough improvement to be encouraged.”

The biggest setback in the scrimmage for the Eagles was an injury to sophomore receiver Michael Bounds, who suffered a broken collarbone.

The offense failed to score in the scrimmage but did put together a drive to the five-yard line. Lumberton was able to find the end zone against the combined defensive units of Barbers Hill.

Overall, the scrimmage did answer some personnel questions for Barbers Hill but several more decisions will be made this week in practice.

“We settled on a few kids that we are going to lock in on but we are still going to roll some kids into the mix,” Price said. “We have to have a good week of practice before we play Wharton.”
