The Princeton Panthers are running it. Superbull has to defend it Friday, well, his kids do.

I can't believe they are bringing it back. I wonder why? They do have a couple of good backs.....

I guess since nothing else worked. Might help in the fact that nobody has had to defend the single wing in a loooong time.

when they snap it to the deep back is the quaterback lined up over the guard or what?

Depends on how you run it and what the defense is doing I think. If DT tackle is playing outside technique off the OL then I think the spin back lines up almost up on the guards arse.

Backfield positions are: tailback, fullback, blocking back and wing back. No QB and the snap can go to the TB, FB or BB. All three can pass the ball depending on the play. They can line up any number of ways but all three need to be within snapping distance of the center.

 It's not doing what I want it to do. BB is between the G & T, WB out side of RE and TB & FB splitting the center.

It's all about the sniffer and the guards. They lead you to the ball every time.

Now, if we can just do our jobs...

Iowa Park has done a little of this in the past. GM, I'm hearing that IP will run a ton of single wing this year because they can't throw the ball. Is that true?

Many said LH would "suck" when Vance brought the slot-T to town...
I love it and so much fun to watch.. I wish Princeton well with the single wing as it looks and plays so close to what LH runs guessing where the ball is...

Princeton pounded an evidently not very good Commerce team with the single wing in last weeks scrimmage. Why you lack some atheletes like Princeton it is probably worth the shot. All the misdirection in the Single Wing probably could help Princeton.

All formations come & go then resurface. Coaches will copy anything that works.

Single & double wing are modern day spread offenses with subtle changes in alignment & of course throwing the ball more. Same as college 4-2-5 defense - high schools call it the Split 6. People run variations of the wishbone, veer, midline, etc. every weekend. Same with zone read scheme - it is modern day triple option at the core. Misdirection schemes work when you lack athletes usually - all assignment football.

It's not what you run but how you run it. Not the X's & O's but rather the Jimmy's & Joe's! Players make plays if put in the right spots to do so.

You make a very valid point on the athletes however, I think like alot of people think when it comes to the lack of speed etc.. Misdirection can work a bit as an equalizer.

Agreed - see Liberty Hill last year. And I mean that as total respect for what LH does & they do it well.

It's all assignment football & one busted assignment means a BIG play, probably 6 points.

Clear Creek ran the single wing when I was in highschool in 5a ball (around 2002 season i think is when i remember it, maybe 2001) anyway, they were really good at it and rode it to a pretty deep run in the playoffs....they scored something like 42 points in teh first quarter against my team using it (we were horrible so yah take that for what its worth)

Last year they trotted out a spread against Celina. They rushed for something like -22 yards, threw 6 INTs, got their QB sent off on an ambulance, and lost 50+ to zip.

This year they led 6-0 before losing a respectable 35-6. They rushed for around 150 yards and their defense wasn't on the field the whole game so it took them much longer to wear down. They still don't have the athletes but it matters less in this system than the spread and as they get better at it it will give them a chance to win some.

Personally I can't stand the spread and enjoy watching this kind of football. As a Celina fan all I can say is "bring on the spread".

It looks like controlled chaos out there. Did you see the holes the line was making out there? That's a pretty cool looking offense.
