Is it true he was murdered last year in Big Spring. I just read that his killer was sentenced to life yesterday. Where have I been that I didnt hear about this sooner? Man that kid could absolutely FLY!!!

Yes, he was shot in the front yard of his house a few years back. The trial just concluded. Basically, from accounts that I read, it was an argument that went bad at a store in Midland and escalated later that evening. Guy shot Mitchell at his house.

I remember I was a Freshmen in Sweetwater and watched him run, our sprinters called him "Jesus". He is one of the few people that I saw give autographs in high school. It's a shame.

Wow..I didnt know he was dead either. Last thing I heard about him was that he made it about 2 weeks with the Canes and then came back to Big Spring.
