You can't really tell much in a scrimmage. Coach Lauve was too good a leader in Jasper to allow his bunch to just fold. They might struggle containing all the offensive weapons, but getting burned by a 3A team last year had to have left some sour feelings.

Caldwell wins and wins big. The Falke kid is a good athlete but he was ran down from behind by the Rockdale RB in the scrimmage.

Elgin is a year or 2 away still.

As good as the juniors and seniors are this year and given how few games they've lost since junior high (like four total I think someone said), there will be a major coaching change if they don't continue that streak.

In Caldwell, it always seems a class will start off great in 7th through 10th grade under sub-varsity coaches and then fall apart or discover mediocrity once they reach varsity. That is a tell-tale sign that the head coach isn't doing his job adequately.

TO hear people around town talk, if the team can't win at least eight games and play in a few playoff rounds with 27 seniors - which many 4A programs don't have - then the blame rests on the head coach.

He better make sure they're all on the same page this go-around. There were a lot of livid parents and fans after the Bellville game last year. You'd have had to see it to believe the meltdown in less than six minutes.

I saw Elgin last year and they were not so great. I would not waste my money at that game if they are anything like last year. Caldwell wins by 30+.
