In the NFL there have been some pretty gay names used.

I don't think any of those team names are "gay". They all mean something. Maybe the bengals???

Packers: came from the Indian Packing Company where Curly Lambeau used to work @ in Green Bay.

Rams: when they were in LA they got the mascot. Not sure what a Ram has to do with LA or St. Louis.

Oilers: Of course Texas has/had a huge oil refining industry.

Browns: they were name after their 1st HC/Owner Paul Brown.

Bengals: is a breed of Tiger.

49'ers: got the name from the famous Cali Gold Rush in 1849.

Cardinals: Is actually a type of bird and is where they got the nickname from.

and the bengal is not a "breed" of tiger ..... its a "regular" tiger from a former province in NE India, now divided between India and Bangladesh called Bengal. The term "Bengal Tiger" was used to describe the tigers from that are and it was shortened to Bengal ....

just trying to educate the 3ADL public .........

It is just guy type football talk. No real insult intended. Mostly mindless football conversation with a spin of humor.

The controversial movie which dealt with this topic a year or so ago was about a couple of "Cowboys."

That is correct, this is the NFL names. I just did not want to be sacreligious by putting God's team on the list.

We can get to the collegiate level some month down the road. And I am fairly certain that thread will get locked or my ID banned. :D

Well, that is pretty gay. Along with the Giants, Bills and Bucaneers. Think of the gayness among the MLB basball team names, but I do not want to highjack my own thread.

I must admit that you never know which threads will go over well. I can tell there will eventually be a college, MLB, NBA, and NHL thread of the same genre.
