The report I got on varsity only was Vernon 1 TD to Sweetwater 0 in the controlled scrimmage. Then they played a live quarter and Vernon won 14 - 0. Vernon defense gave up 87 yards on 33 plays and both D1 safties (Daniels and Williams) were lighting people up.

The Sweetwater Distorter reports that Vernon won the live part 7-0. 14-0 or 7-0 is still better than the beat down they put on the Stangs at Aledo last year. :)

Should be another good year for Graham and Vernon. The QB will prolly put up bigger numbers this year. Is the Sparks kid a SR. this yr?

Vernon scored on a 60-65 yard run during the controlled part
of the scrimmage. Our QB was hurt during our first offensive
set of plays. He didn't play the rest of the scrimmage. They
put in our two way starter at WR/CB in to replace him which
surprised me. I thought the back-up QB was Zach Birdwell.

The live quarter saw Vernon score on a long drive. With less
than 30 seconds we completed a long pass to the one. The
offense ran to the line of scrimmage and the QB spiked the ball.
We weren't ready to run a play as the play clock ran down.
Jackson called a time-out. For some reason they called a five
yard penalty on us before we ran the next play. I missed what
the call was. We attempted to run a fade in the corner of the
end zone. It fell incomplete as time expired.

Those safeties are good against the run but our WR's were
open all day. The offensive line just didn't give our QB much
time to pass.

(Did I just mention our QB and pass in the same sentence? )

they put in kiki wallace(sp?)??? i saw them put him in during the scrimmage..... its nice to see a qb as tall as he is, but i don think he has what it takes to be a qb just yet, its hard just to put a kid under center when he isnt comfortable with the reigns yet,

sadly, i dont think birdwell will do anything great behid center as well....meaning sweetwater needs to get holsey healthy. any news on his injury???

they better find a liable backup just incase holsey doesnt stay healthy

Yes, they put in Keke Wallace. He has a strong arm but not
as fast or agile as Holsey.

When Holsey went to the side lines Blades had him take off his
shoulder pads and was stretching him like it was cramps or
a hamstring. But, then he put what looked like a wrap around
ice pack on his lower back.
