I hear Liberty-Eylau is scrimmaging Marshall in Marshall tonight.

Gilmer scrimmaged New Boston last night in New Boston and it was 4-0 in favor of Gilmer in the game-like portion of it.

Jasper and Nederland played a controlled scrimmage (12 plays each) with 2nd stringers.

Jasper 1 - Nederland 0.

Now they'll play a full half with starters.

Orange Grove's first team offense was held to one first down by the Beeville first team defense. Their defense allowed Refugio one score on a nice run by Carl Swain. Their secondary looked solid and limited the effectiveness of Refugio's very talented QB.

I was just thinking since they held Nederland scoreless the 2nd "quarter" they might be doing pretty good. Maybe someone should start youth soccer in Jasper so maybe a "kicker" will arise in a few years. :D ;)

Forney lost to Wylie 21-13. Wylie did not look very good at all. They have a really good running back who is big and fast but had 0 success at throwing deep.

In case anyone cares . . .

Controlled:

RH - 3
Fal - 0

2 quarters of play:

RH - 35
Fal - 0

Falfurrias had some big big boys. They had a few problems, though. First of all, surprisingly, despite the big boys, the runs up the middle went nowhere, except for a few plays. The runs to the outside is where the money was. The pass protection bought the QB a bit of time, but not much. He got nailed hard a few times. Fal was quick on the outside, though, breaking one run for about 30. On average, though, the outside runs earned between 4-8 yards. As for passing, nothing really caught my eye. Fal completed a few for about 5 yards, but most of the passes were dropped by the WR's, with RH's D being the cause of most of the drops.

Falfurrias can give Zapata a run if the keep it to the outside, where Zapata was pretty weak.

On to RH. RH had a good showing. Runs up the middle averaged 5-12 yards, with a couple going for more. Runs to the outside averaged 10-20 yards, with a few going over 20. Passing was mediocre this week. The QB was throwing a little high, but was able to settle down. RH's WR's were covered very tightly by Fal's secondary. They were good at sticking with the wide outs. RH D held strong throughout the games.

RH looks good, but a little bit more tweaking is needed.

IMO, Fal will be in the running this year instead of Lyford, and RH will be just as good, if not better than last year.

Also, I forgot to add that Fal's RB's had butterfingers. Fal gave up quite a few fumbles and one or two interceptions. RH gave up one fumble.
