I remember showing up for Marlin vs Burnet @ 4:30 PM and the Stands were already crowded with fans, and this wasn't a play off game, it was the DQ Big Game of the Week, and My Dawgs got smashed, but My wife and I sat in the stands for 3 hours before kick-off. What's the earliest you've showed up for a game?

Me and Eldo tailgated at that game, got to the parking lot in Burnet about 2 and grabbed a seat as soon as the gates opened. Sat behind some DR and some crazy older guy from Marlin.

5:30 for a 7:30 game... I was a freshman so to keep myself busy during the pre-game i stepped on the field and helped the coaches with the footballs.. oh yeah and I was talking to the cheerleaders... good way to kill 2 hours.

I can remember a couple of Ingleside -vs- Sinton and Ingleside -vs- Aransas Pass games in the past where I was there by 4pm to get a seat.

5ish.

I'll probably just chill at the school a few times this year. So technically, I'll show up like 12 hours early if I do that.

Yeah, on my road trip games I leave my house before 5am and just mess around the area in wich the game is. Usually find somewhere good to eat and a State Park or some other attraction.

I have been to a couple of those and wished that I had shown up at 4:00. I say that, but keeping my rear in a seat for that long is just about impossible. I get fidgetty. ;)

You have to be there by 5:30 or earlier or you will stand. A few years ago the Tigers were 9-0 and the Yoe were 8-1, game was in Rockdale and folks were there at 4 pm.......

I showed up at Warhorse Stadium last fall at 4:00 for an 8:00 district championship game. There was already a line at the gate. At least Hondo beat the Horses for the district title.

I usually can't go early because I have earlier volleyball games to attend.

2002 Burnet @ Liberty Hill....gates didn't open until 5:00 or 5:30. We were there around 3:30 and cooked sausage wraps.

Well considering I used to be in Color Guard we would get outta school around 3:30 go get food, then by 4 or so we were back at the school practicing and dressing for the game. Fridays needless to say were LONG days. As for after high school probably 6 or so.

Would be there 6:30 in Sinton, rush home from work shower then eat out by the time I'll get there the gates would open would see already a crowd of people waiting in line at 5. Go sit in the stands watch the Pirates practice , then watch the buses driving in Pirate Blvd from the other band . Once they are parked . Could hear the Pirate Band marching in from behind Pirate Stadium. That's what gets me excited about high school football

5:30 and was glad I did, because the fire marshall sent out reps to close it down right before kickoff at 7:30. They let people stand down on the track, up to the endlines, and the stairs were even full so you had to climb over people to get to the bathroom. The bathroom wait was crazy. Pennington Field has never been like that before or since. Craig Way and Nate Newton did the broadcast as the State Game of the Week and Newton commented that he had never been to a game with the stadium completely full of people like that. College kids were charging 10 dollars to hoist people over the fence.

Earliest I ever showed up for a game was Lampasas-Marble Falls back in 1993 when both were ranked in the top 10 in the state in 3A. I was in the 8th grade at the time and the junior high is right across the street from Badger Field so I got out of school and went straight over to the field to get a seat at 3:30!

Earliest I've seen fans show up for a game was the 2000 District Championship game between Gatesville and Lorena. The game was at Lorena (If you've ever been there you know how cramped that place is.) so me and my broadcast partner show up around 4 or so for the game to get setup. He wanted to do the broadcast from the visitor stands because doing the broadcast from that pressbox is a disaster to attempt. Well much to his dismay Gatesville already had fans in the stands at around 1pm for the game so we got stuck up on TOP of that press box!

Oh well at least Taurean Henderson ran for 3 bills for the 2nd week in a row that night so it made it all worthwhile and has made for some fun stories to tell since then. Wore me out doing play-by-play and the color commentary because Mr. Wheeler had to run the camera off of his shoulder for the game while having one foot hanging off the side of the edge of the pressbox for 3 hours. For a big fella he sure had some good balance. :)

I would have to say last year when we played Bandera - We'd heard all these stories about how small the stadium was and needed to get there really early to get a seat. Plus, not knowing how long it would take to get there - we left Cuero not long after lunch. I think we got there about 3:15 - Got to sit in the sun for a LONG TIME - but we did have good seats :D

I'd say around 6:15ish to ensure a good parking spot.

Devine's stadium holds about 4000 total. The visitor side holds maybe 1500. There were probably 8000 in the stadium that night and more outside the fences. People were standing 6 deep onthe sideline fence beyond the stands and sitting 2 deep on the track to the north side. The bands had to sit on folding chairs on the track.

My earliest was to see Grandfalls Royalty play Trinidad at Panther Creek H.S. in a pre-season game. For anyone who doesn't know, these are all 6 man schools.

The game started at 4 on a Saturday and we got there at 10:30. There was no one there and since Panther Creek H.S. is in the middle of nowhere, there was nothing to do until the guy who worked the concession stand showed up at around 2. I helped him get the charcoal going in the outdoor grill and we cooked up some hamburger meat.

Trinidad went on to win the state championship that year.
