The 2001 Leps averaged 29 points for and 9 points against in 16 games as 3a DII Finalists. This year the 2002 Leps are averaging 28 points for and 9 points against after 11 games. Pretty consistant. I keep hearing about how the La Grange offense is not firing on all cylinders yet so far they are doing as well as last years team which finished 5th in the AP poll and 4th in the Collier Sharpe and just missed winning the Championship by a 11-14 score to Commerce. This young team continues to surprise everyone. 2002 was going to be a building year, but this team has the heart of a champion. Just stay focused and play each game one Friday at a time. Good luck Leps, win State! :) :) :D

Another factoid: the 2001 Leps had the third most diffficult schedule in 3a, behind Giddings (who they beat twice) and Daingerfield, according to Collier Sharpe. This season they have played 5 top 50 teams and are 4-1 against them. Best opponent so far according to Collier Sharpe: Gonzales (Lg 36-13). My assessment is that Elgin was the best opponent and Yoakum the next best opponent. Yoakum took the Leps to school first game of the season. Since then the Leps have played with great focus and intensity and improved each game. They are playing at the top of their form right now, as they should during play-off time. Good luck and Go Leps!!! :) :) :)

HEY PUD,

Those sound more like facts, not factoids. :p

HEY PUD,

Those sound more like facts, not factoids. :p OK, maybe you're right. I call them factoids because of the polls, which are basically informed opinions based on sets of assumptions which may or may not be valid. LOL! :D

Hey Pud, is it true that a few boys flunked out for the next three weeks? Which ones?

We lost one person, LB Josh Johnson to grades. He failed Spanish. That was how we lost him first. Now, he moved back to Burnet, so I guess we will be playing without him the rest of the season.

I remember when Ty Gunn was a freshman, rebuilding year for the Leps. Once Gunn was the starting qb the Leps rebuilt real fast. Think we might see a Bellville-LaGrange matchup soon? Would be fun. If JJ has gone back to Burnet I guess that ends the speculation on why he was in LaGrange.

He made a significant contribution to the team's success in the seven games in which he started. He will be missed. That being said, to all the Leps who might read this board, you guys are playing as a team with heart and although Josh was a very talented player, the past two games have been every bit as good as anything you have accomplished in this great run of 2002. Don't dwell on the past or what might have been , just stay focused and concentrate on getting the job done. You know you can do it, the coaches know you can do it, fans know you can do it, and for sure your opponents know you can do it. So just go out there and do it!. Go Leps, Win State!!! :D :D
