State Track meet team results past 5 years

Atlanta and Forney seem to be very consistent from year to year. Forney was in Top 5 every year but 2003. Atlanta was in Top 5 every year but 99 and 2000 but WON the team championship in 2003. Forney finished 2nd in 2000 and 2001 and finished 3rd in 2002.

Jasper was very good in 4A the past five years and finished 2nd behind Atlanta last year. Could have won team title if it wasn't for a mishap on a relay!

Thank you for that observation.

You could easily expand that statement to the past 30 years or more. During that period Jasper boys won 4 4a state championships and numerous 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place team finishes. According to the link below for all time, all classifications, Jasper boys have top ten performances in five different events.

Another footnote, in 1991 Jasper boys AND girls both won 4a state championships on the same night.

BUT...the post was strictly about the past 5 years.

Check out my boys from Orangefield in the pole vault. They have had four diffent vaulters jump over 17 foot. Started with Wayne Guidry in 1992.

I have been to every state track meet the last 7 years until last year. There is nothing like being there. I would pick a state track meet over a state football game any day.

Yes, Texas state track meets are very special. I have heard that no where else in the USA, college on down, do you have some 30,000 plus screaming fans at a track meet. And everyone cheers great performances. When records are set, the crowds go wild. I was fortunate to be there to see Jasper break the national record in the 400m in 1991. The crowd went absolutely wild, even though only a small portion of the people there probably even knew where Jasper was.

But, a state football championship game with Jasper in it would be very special to me also. :)
