32 years ago today(8-8-75), Hank Williams, Jr. was climbing in the Ajax Mountains of Montana, when he slipped and fell over 100 feet and landed face-first onto a sharp boulder.

The accident nearly claimed his life and practically destroyed his face. It required 3 years of recovery and numerous plastic surgeries to put his face back together. To this day, he is never seen without his beard and dark glasses, which cover up the many scars he has as a result of his ordeal.

More than that, it marked a turning point in his career. He went from the look-alike, sound-alike of his famous dad to singing his own songs and taking on the "outlaw" persona that made him a superstar, all of which may have never happened if not for a horrifying accident which happened 32 years ago today.

He had given a concert in Tyler a few months before in March I think. I got to go and see and hear him. He was great.

Well, before that he had a boat load of #1 hits and was Entertainer of the Year a few times. As big as Kenny Chesney is today, "Bocephus" was that big 20 years ago.

I didn't either crzy. I saw him when he had a concert in Tyler about 6 months before the accident.

I just find this question dumb for some reason. Not knocking you, but I guess growing up on a farm makes me more prone to knowing things like that.

my musical background is lacking all around...I couldn't recognize hardly anybody by their pictures and even fewer by their songs...music has just never been my thing for some reason...
