i think it should be

Roger--even tho he was the number 3 pitcher for the national championship team
VINCE---could be number one...
Earl campbell
Ricky Williams
Cat Ostermann
Huston Street
Ben Crenshaw
Tommy Nobis
and its a tie from there

yep, you could argue vince may not be the best ever, but he is certainly the best FOOTBALL player to ever play at Texas

My top 5

1. Earl - The Tyler Rose...what more can you say
2. Cat - Not only one of the best at UT but in the world
3. Vince - Outstanding leader and all around complete athlete
4. Ricky - #2 on the collegiate all time rushing list
5. Tommy - Great linebacker that could transcend time

Clarissa Davis should be higher on that list. I guess she's a bit forgotten because she played 2 decades ago and women's basketball didn't get the exposure it's getting now.

I'd have to have T.J. Ford on that list

I almost went off on this thread for omitting Nolan Ryan until I realized that it's UT, not the state!

I also thought that Bobby Layne should have been there too. He was a great QB for us and led us on several great winning seasons plus I think he also played baseball for us. In the NFL he led Detroit to three NFL championships.

Agreed. And Roger Clemens was not the ace pitcher while at Texas after transferring from San Jac. Calvin Schiraldi was the staff ace. Now, counting the pro career, of course Rocket is near the top of the UT all-time list.

1. Earl Campbell (college & pro HOF)
2. Vince Young
3. Roger Clemens
4. Tommy Nobis
5. Bobby Layne
6. Cat Osterman
7. Slater Martin (basketball pioneer & HOF)
8. TJ Ford
9. Clarissa Davis
10. Burt Hooton

Ben Crenshaw, Ricky Williams, Destiny & Marshavet Hooker in time, Sanya Richards, Huston Street, Erin Aldrich, maybe Kevin Durant but only 1 year, etc. deserve mention too among others
