i couldnt start doing them till one day i was messing around on the electric jsut going up the scales and lucked onto doing it constantly.

i usually do it with the side of my thumb, immediately as you strike the string with the pick, brush the string you just strummed with you thumb, if you did it right, youll hear the pitch go up an octive. its all one motion, if you hit it too har with your thumb youll get the muted sound....just mess around with it, practice always helps.

arrrggg.... wikipedia will teach you till i wake up in about 5-6 hours haha

If I try to hard to do it like on a song like cemetery gates i cant do it but if i just get the pick set right between my thumb and finger and just play, it happens. sometimes when i dont want it to. but try not to think about it to much and jus let it happen. thats what i had to do. Youtube is the best place for "visual" learners to see how its done. thats where I have learned a lot of stuff. or Guitar Pro or Power Tab editor work great as well.

Don Rich from Buck Owens Buckaroos was one of the best with his Fender Telecaster

Plcked with a tight twang-- his instrumentals were the best

He also played fiddle for Buck

Robert Earl Keen's guitar player is pretty good too-forgot his name
