I'm driving from Midlothian to Cypress tonight. Would it be quicker to go down 35 to Hwy 6? The house we're going to is just about 2 miles east of 290/6 at Spring/Cypress Rd.. The online map services tell me to take 35 to 6 and 290. It's about 10 miles shorter than taking 45 and then exiting onto Spring/Cypress for 15 miles.

Any thoughts? We won't leave Midlothian until after 6PM so traffic shouldn't be too big of a factor.

Yeah I figured we'd take 287 to 45 and go south from there. I'm assuming that will be decidedly faster? Of all the roads I've driven in Texas...never been over on I-45...

If you take 45 South, as you're passing through Huntsville, be sure to salute the big statue.

Hope by tonight you mean after sundown. The traffic through Conroe is awful. There is contruction work on the Interstate and it is only two lanes southbound when four or five are needed. If you are coming later it should be ok.

Yeah we'll leave Midlothian some time after 6 so I doubt we reach Conroe before 9.

There's also some construction on 45 as you get into The Woodlands...nothing too major last time I was through there but kind of a nuisance.

It's actually clear just before The Woodlands. The road suddenly goes from two narrow lanes to five nice lanes all the way to the Beltway. By the way Adidas, pay the $1.25 and take Beltway 8 west to 290. You won't be sorry. Probably 15 miles closer. I live in The Woodlands and moved here from Cypress.

Going all the way down to the belwill be quicker than just taking Spring/Cypress road over to Cypress? Based on google maps...that adds 16 miles to the trip to go to the beltway and back up 290.

Regardless of the miles, Spring-Cypress is a road that is long, often only two lanes with truck traffic, and has lots of signal lights. I go to Cypress 3-4 times per month to see my daughter and always use the beltway. If you want to take your time and don't mind lights, go on Spring-Cypress.

We'll use the Beltway! ;) Thanks for the help.
