6-3a had no teams with a losing record and the fourth place team (Burkburnett) was one of the better teams in the region having defeated the Region I Champion.

Lion, that is one tough district for sure!!! Bellville, Giddings, Navasota is no slouch. I think that this years district, do not know the number, with Needville, Wharton, Sweeny, Sealy, Stafford, Columbus, West Columbia, and Brookshire might be tougher top to bottom.

The top 4 teams in that district are very solid, but you have 3 teams there that had 3 wins or less last year. The worst record in 6-3a was 5-5 Iowa Park, who usually play tough.

Lion- Our district was tough last year, Burk was supposed to come into the district out of 4a and sweep everyone, but that didnt happen.

Districts 23 and 24 are tough. In 24 last year, Needville was 7-3 and didn't make the playoffs if I'm not mistaken.

Bridge City
Hamshire-Fannett
Jasper
Kirbyville
Orangefield
Silsbee
Sour Lake Hardin-Jefferson
West Orange-Stark

21-3A has three (3) top-25 teams at the start of the season.

In the past 4 years, only Hardin-Jefferson hasn't been in the football playoffs, if my memory serves. Bridge City, Jasper, and West Orange-Stark have all made deep playoff runs in the past few years.

I'm certainly biased; but, in my opinion, teams that only have to win two or three district games to make the playoffs aren't under the same scrutiny or pressure as the folks in 8-team districts.

All 8 teams in 21-3A have been in the football playoffs over the past 3-4 years. The most recent realignment created a district in which 6 teams were in the playoffs just one year earlier. West Orange-Stark, Kirbyville and Silsbee are already enjoying healthy rankings. Bridge City and Jasper have both recently gone deep in the playoffs, and Hamshire-Fannett is a historical spoiler.

Not to mention that this district has the 2006-2007 State Championships in both basketball (Sour Lake Hardin-Jefferson) and baseball (Jasper); and Jasper beat Bridge City in the regional championship to advance to Austin. Bridge City was in Austin the previous two years.

I know every region has one or two powerhouse districts. 24-3A, 18-3A, and 23-3A look tough; but I submit 21-3A as the most cut-throat in Region III.

You forget that they do't have the benefit of 2 or 3 pushover games against the teams with the 2-8 or 3-7 records. Having only 4 games against winners that have all been in 4a previously makes 6-3a very difficult. In fact, Vernon not only had to win their last district game, but had to rely on another district team to win or they would have been eliminated. When both of those things occured, Vernon squeaked into the playoffs and proceeded to roll through the Region. I think less games causes more scrutiny.

Vernon is freaking talented most years. They should make the playoffs all of the time. Burk is a BASKETBALL SCHOOL!!! JMO.

Vernon should be okay. They lost whiteside. burk was good in basketball. but i know alot of 3a teams that could run them in the ground. better yet some 2a teams.

If you are talking 2a schools in region 2, then yes. Most of those 2a schools in that region that do not play football can run almost any classification into the ground. Heard a lot of military personel will be moved to Lawton. Means Burk will get another influx of students, look out!!!

Having only 4 games against winners that have all been in 4a previously makes 6-3a very difficult. I

In 21-3A, WO-S, Silsbee and Jasper all have had recent playoff success in 4A before dropping down, including a 15-1 season from WO-S in 2000, when we lost just the championship to Ennis.
But no, I don't think we're the toughest "top to bottom." I don't think any team will come out unscathed in "the toughest district top to bottom," and we have yet to lose a game in our district. Maybe this year, but I think overall our district was more talent-laden last year.
