I know this is very rare but why take the risk?

Quit trying to protect the world from itself. If someone chooses to not wear it then so be it. It might not be the wisest decision but it is one made by themselves for themselves.

Guilty as charged of trying to protect the world...

Give me a break, it was a simple question regarding opinions.

Guess he should have been paying more attention, then a helmet would not have been necessary.

I know, I was being sarcastic. Sorry, wrong time for that, the guy passed away, seriously I wasn't trying to make light of the situation. I just know what it feels like to get drilled by a line drive. I had my nose shattered when I was young and pitching, at least as a basecoach you have on option to wear something besides a hat.

it should be a decision made by the individual because if he dont want to wear it then hes not going to wear it

When there is a simple and easy way to increase safety in a game that isn't creating an inconvenience for anybody...then I don't see why it's not implemented.

No, just watch the batter. Most men can duck and cover enough to prevent this.
