Can't you already get that at Sonic? Well, maybe not at 1 am. :p

I like JITB's shakes, but their burgers leave something to be desired.

Jack in the Box, the home of the Jumbo Jack burger, is coming to Corpus Christi.

Company officials confirmed Wednesday that construction for two restaurants has begun.

The exact locations of construction were not disclosed, but one location on Kostoryz Road and South Padre Island Drive has been confirmed by company officials.

"We're very excited about our expansion into Corpus Christi and look forward to offering the community a great dining experience," said Kathleen Anthony, company spokeswoman. "Construction is currently under way on our first two restaurants in the area, which should open in a few months."

Jack in the Box, founded in 1951, operates and franchises more than 2,000 restaurants in 17 states.

The nearest Jack in the Box restaurants to Corpus Christi are in the Rio Grande Valley or in San Antonio.

Jack in the Box claims to be the first in the quick-serve food industry to have started as a drive-through, and the first to introduce menu items that are now staples on most fast-food menu boards, including a breakfast sandwich and portable salad.

Also popular for its Classic Jack antenna balls, the company has sold or given away more than 22 million antenna balls.

Jack in the Box has about 45,000 employees nationwide.

They kind of overwhelm all the other burger joints. For a few years we (the area) didn't have any Burger Kings either. I mean, they were there a long time ago, closed and are now back.

Isn't there only one Burger King in Calallen? I can't think of any actually in Corpus. The one on 37 outside of George West is probably my favorite. Many a victory burger was eaten there after repo'ing schwag from the scum of that little town. :D

There is a BK near the water. When you are coming off shoreline & headed back to either 37 or 181 its on the left.

I just saw a few weeks ago that there is another one on the south side at Cimaron & Saratoga near Spohn South. Shocked the heck out of me! LOL

Jack In the Box order:

Ultimate cheeseburger
4 tacos for 1.98

I make the drive across the street for McDonalds french fries. They usually get pissed when they see the JITB sack and me only buying fries.

They are never salty enough...I am a freak when it comes to fried potatoes. I would rather cut my own at home and skillet fry them with the skins still on instead of buying them at fast food place, but i only do that once every month or so because of time...

They had a JITB in Victoria years and years ago on Navarro. It's a photo shop now. I was never impressed with their food. However, at the time, they were the only fast food joint other than J.J.s that was open 24hrs on the weekends. Not too sure why they shut down. Maybe that's when all the competition started moving in.

JITB must be trying to grow their market share. We're getting one in Bridge City, as well. They painted it today    !

For anyone on a budget:
4 tacos = $1.98, a chicken sandwich (from the value menu, with BBQ sauce from the packets) = $.99, ask for a water = $0.00....

All of this for $3.24 (with tax)! That's a LOT of food for $3.24!

My dad was a maintenance foreman back home in Lampasas at a plant that made the tacos for Jack In The Box. He'd bring home a case of their tacos (as well as some really, really good taquitos) every week. I can't even give a good estimate on how many free tacos I had as a kid because of that!
