USA wins World Cup Softball Championship for 2007!

They beat Japan 3 to 0. Flowers got a home run and then later with two outs Crystal Bustos hit in two more runs for insurance. Natasha Whatley made some great defensive plays and the CAT had a splendid pitching performance setting a strikeout record!

Way to go CAT! Way to go Team USA!!

The last out was strange. Japan had a runner at first and there were two outs in the 7th inning and then the runner hit a fly ball that was easily caught by the outfielding and the ball was relayed back to CAT while the runner at first went back to the base but CAT got the ball in the circle before the runner reached base and the umpire (who was Japanese) called the runner out. I guess that is the rules but what a strange way to end the game. It wouldn't have made any difference in the final outcome because CAT and Team USA had control of this game at that point.
