We need to get an idea of how many of you are willing and able to help us keep our website free of pop-ups and advertising through the donations campaign. Please "vote" your choice. This does not "obligate" you in any way. If you can't help, that's fine too. It is entirely voluntary.

If you wish to go ahead and donate, you can do so in two ways. If you have a credit card, you can use the "PayPal" button at the top right of the page. PayPal is an extremely secure way to send money over the internet. If you prefer to mail in your donation, send it to: 3A Downlow Donations, PO BOX 121 Bridge City, Texas 77611 .

In either case, please be sure to note your 3ADL screen name so we will know who the "Donating Member" icons go to. If you have already donated and forgot to include your 3ADL username, pm me.

Did you read the announcement? We've managed to avoid selling advertising on the site since its' inception because we have always been able to keep up with the expenses. Those expenses are now escalating dramatically.

When a Host provides space for a dedicated server, he requires you to help pay for the building, electricity, backup power, air conditioning, upkeep, and bandwidth usage. When you rent space on someone elses' server, your database size and bandwidth usage are limited, and ALL of those charges are split between multiple users on that one server, thereby making it cheaper. In our case, BOTH our database and bandwidth usuage exceed most of their limits.

as soon as I have some extra cash I will donate as much as I can. I told 328 last night, To me having an ad on top of the page isnt really that big of a deal to me. I ignore them everywhere else I go, it wouldnt be that hard to ignore it here.

Yessir! All donaters will get the "Donating Member" insignia under their usernames. It takes a little while sometimes as Admin is the only one that can do that (he's also the only one who knows who donated), and he stays pretty busy. He will eventually get to it though.

Also, folks, please use PayPal if at all possible. Mail donations could take extended time. (There are circumstances).

So how do we go about donating? This is definetly my favorite place to post and I know about servers, expenses etc. I do POS and PC support for a living.

The easiest and fastest way is to use the PayPal button at the top right of the first bbs page. Otherwise, you can mail in to the address in the original announcement at the top.

If you are talking about us setting one up, we already have one. There is a PayPal button on the right hand corner of the page. :)

Thanks for your donations. Like Tony said, no amount is too small. Heck, if all the daily regulars donated at least $5 that'd give us approx $200, give or take. I think on avg there are usually 40 or so of us that visit the site on a daily basis, even in the off-season.

I want to thank all of you, you have renewed my faith in my fellow downlowers. We have found a suitable host, will take a little time, but it will work out well. Webmaster will make the appropriate announcement when it's all finalized and the contract is signed. We definitely aren't going anywhere.
