That is great news!

does anyone have any more information about the games themselves, other than scores?

(for bobcat fans) How did Lynn do? what position did he play?

What other players from the tournament stood out, that you observed or heard about?

Everybody probably already knows, but i didn't see it posted and i like being a homer sometimes:D !

Besides, i wasn't online much yesterday, so i didn't get the good news until this morning

didn't feel very confident after they finished 2-2 in pool play, but perhaps that was good for the bobcats!

Real season is what counts. Crane must have some really good skill kids, 2a giving Celina fits like that. When all teams strap on the pads is when the real tests will come. 7 on 7 is not a real measuring stick of potential team success in my opinion. Too many factors in the real game are not displayed in 7 on 7. Just my opinion.

i totally agree, but i can still be proud:D

celina isn't known for its passing game anyway

the thing i like to see is the coming together as a team and coming back and fighting to win, which they showed in some very close games, apparently. Those are attributes that are either inherently in a player or made by experience with adversity, and which CAN translate to the 11-man football season

Remind me again who won State in 7-on-7 last year and how did they do in the regular season? ;)

I totally don't even know the answer - I'm just being, well ME

On a serious note - Congrats to the Bobcats

Well, i don't know who won last year, but i do know that the last time celina won 7-7, they had a pretty good year

16-0 state champions over Quan Cosby and Mart!

:D ;)

I kinda hope it means something~!

With former college and pro players son's playing, I would hope they have a great season.

Charles,

Like you, I was concerned after their 2-2 record in pool play. However, they played their best when it counted.

For what it's worth, Davis didn't play in the first couple games of pool play. The bobcats used McCartney as QB some during the tournament.

Lynn was named tournament MVP. Davis and Romero were also named to the All-Tournament Team.

what position did lynn play during the tourney?

will he play QB at all this season?

or spend some time at RB/WR while focusing on the secondary?

Didnt Celina beat a 5a to win the 7 on 7 title one year?

Not bad since Celina was 5-6 kids from being 2A again last re-alignment. Still it is just 7 on 7 but as someone already said, put it together with the bread and butter running game, makes for a deadly combination. I am glad they got the extra work in this summer. Their Champion's heart came thru when needed. Congrats Cats!

I hate to burst your bubble but D'anton's Dad is a Celina Grad before he played a stellar career at the Red Raiders and went on to the Pro's. So he is home grown 100%.

Yes, but what it really is is the fact that Celina has a top rated defense to go with that O. 7 on 7 is more about offensive skill position. That is why it always bodes well for Celina. Cause we loves our Defense probably more that the O. I know I do.

Add to that the fact that we throw about a third of the time and our running game is usually a monster and that pretty much tells the tale of the season.
Pilot Point had a pretty darn good showing. I bet October madness this year might be a little tougher than that televised game last year.

what position did d'anton play in the tourney?

Don't know, I did not get to have anything to do with it. My wife and I were celebrating our 11th this weekend and I just found out we won. I would bet wide out just cause he has decent speed and some springs and wing span.
But I don't really know. I not sure who would. I think I will check with EL tomorrow at Bobcat Kuntry. He probly knows or maybe I will see D'anton around. I ran into Josh Ramer the other day at the Wal Mart in Mckinney. If I was going to church tomorrow I would just ask Troy or Dru. I imagine they know.

Yes I do. Cause me thinks we might get there again ifn we can stay healthy and the D shapes up. I think the D line will be good again this year and if the LB's shape up, and they should(I doubt we will lose our best 2 or 3 LB's to injury two years in a row) we will do well.
I loved that game last year. Was disappointed to lose but LH was a great squad and it was an honor to play them. Sides, it was hard enough fought and equal enough to now that it could have gone the other way. We made a couple more mistakes than we usually do. But that takes absolutely nothing from LH.
They won Fair and Square and I still would love to own that dvd.
Great game to watch. Classy opponents with heart. Texas HS football at it's best.

Nice pic's.

Yeah it was too bad about his knee. Never quite got back from it.
I think he would have played a lot of running back in the pro's if it was not for that. Still not bad for a small town boy. He does have a super bowl ring.......

Lynn spent most of the weekend at free safety and teams avoided him for the most part....but his impact was huge as he changed other teams offenses....Celina was solid on offense, WR Josh Romero had a great tournament....Waldrep was solid and Seth Davis made some good decisions throwing the ball...

Celina needs to put some kind of logo on their helmets...I hate that plain orange helmet....bring back the C

He is really a good pass defender. Ball Hawk. Good feet and wing span make it hard to get past him or throw over him. He is a touch quicker than Dru and a pretty good hitter. Also a good QB and running back. Seth is really coming along. I think he may have a really good year. Epecially if Josh can get seperation and let Seth have some open targets. The backs are all good receiving out of the backfield but our last really good deep threat was Ross Roby and he graduated in 02.

The exciting thing about Romero is that he is only a freshman. In junior high, he had one of the fastest "40" times (including high school) as an 8th grader. The kid can flat out fly!

You'll also be amazed at his focus and competitiveness.
