My son received one of those cheap($29) telescope/microscope combos from Walmart for Christmas. We returned it twice and it never worked. One scope or the other didn't perform at all. This past weekend I pitched in $20 to get the $50 Walmart refracting telscope.

All I can say is NICE!
To actually see the rings of Saturn from San Antonio is just too cool. I remember Halley's Comet with a more powerful telescope but I never saw Saturn because it was not in the sky.
Jeez... makes me want to buy that $180(GPS installed, digital tracking and overall really nice quality big reflector telescope) from Heartland magazine I saw last month. I tried to find the Crab Nebula with this scope but it was fuzzy. I did find Mars(small), Venus and Jupiter for my family and friends to view on Sunday. This can be a great, wholesome and addicting hobby. http://mysmilies.ipbfree.com/s/otn/angels/angel3.gif
