There have been three so far.

The first one ws on 10-17-87 against Arkansas at Arkansas. There was only a few seconds on the clock and UT was at the Arkansas 18 yard line and was trailing 14 to 10 so they had to go for the win. The play started and time ran out as Bret Stafford threw an 18 yard pass to Tony Jones who was able to hang to the football even though being hit just as the ball got there. This gave UT the 16 to 14 win. The extra point was not played and wouldn't have been necessary. Back then only the team that scored could score on extra points.

The next one was on 10-21-95 at Austin. With four seconds on the clock Virginia had a 16 to 14 lead. With 4 seconds on the clock Phil Dawson (not Phil C) kicked a 50 yard field goal to end the game against a stiff 20mph wind to win the game to UT at 17 to 16. Time ran out on that play.

The 2005 Rose Bowl against Michigan with UT trailing Michigan 37 to 35 with two seconds left. Dusty Magnum mades a 37 yard field goal that just barely clears the upright to win the game for UT 38 to 37. After the game Vince Young says We'll be Back to the Rose Bowl 2006 game that will be for the National Championship. He was right. They did come back and they did win it.
