They also won the state volleyball championship twice in the 1970s

They beat Sweetwater at Big Spring one year. Was like a state championship victory for them. :)

I think this is a more objective analysis, although i personally think Snyder has nothing to be ashamed of--they have had some mighty impressive wins the past few years and have been fairly close in ability to whoever has won the region

from a previous thread:

Snyder's Playoff History

Snyder Playoff History

Record in playoffs since 1997

7-9

Royse City's History (Since 1990)

Royse City History

Record in Playoffs since 1997

9-6

doesn't seem to be any historically significant difference between the two programs

Both have been to the quarterfinals a couple of times (snyder to the semis) and both return good offensive skill players

I'll take Royse City's QB combo, which is more battle tested after playing within seven of the D1 state champs.

this is all pointless speculation, though, since they probably won't play in the same division

Well, it'll get pretty boring just talking about Liberty Hill and whoever the DI champ is going to be. :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: :evillol:

because talking about the same old teams is boring, of course!

we can't always talk about LH, Celina and Giddings!

Snyder has won a couple football games I think.

Snyder went to the state basketball tournament when their principal was coaching. The girls basketball team has been really good in the last few years. The softball team went to the regional finals a couple of years ago. In fact the softball team has been to the playoffs every year except one since the program was started in 1994. (I should know!)

I know that this is a football blog site and all, but you've got to give prop's. to Snyder for their One-Act Play program.

Snyder is, by far, the most successful school in the state of Texas in terms of theatre championships. I don't think any other school has been to Austin or won as many state titles in One-Act Play as Snyder.

I know it ain't pigskin, but even the most successful pro players make as much jack as some of those actors in Hollywood.....

I see that, in the 2000's, things have certainly changed: now it's Wimberley, Van, Seminole and Barber's Hill (I know they just moved to 4-A).

The drama teacher/coach must have left Snyder or retired. In my opinion, U.I.L. academics dynasties can often be chalked up to the coach/sponsor at the dominant school.

The former theatre teacher in Snyder was Jerry Worsham. The auditorium is named for him (in fact it was in his name while he was still teaching there) and he retired in the late 90's I believe. He has also since passed away.

I think I remember them winning the scrimmage championship and the JV championship once. Now those little kids win alot but I think that has to do with Hops coaching ability. ;)
