GILBERT, Ariz. – Tank Johnson's blood alcohol level was below the legal limit when the former Chicago Bears tackle was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving June 22.

Johnson's blood alcohol level was .072, under the presumptive limit in Arizona of .08 percent, police Sgt. Andrew Duncan said Monday. No charges have been filed pending results of a completed investigation.

Johnson, whose legal name is Terry Darnell Johnson, was arrested when officers pulled him over at 3:30 a.m. for driving 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. Duncan said an officer placed him under arrest because he believed Johnson was under the influence of alcohol. He was released without being booked or charged after providing a blood sample, and police said he was very cooperative.

The 25-year-old player was released by the Bears three days after his arrest. The team said it was "upset and embarrassed" by the defensive tackle's legal troubles.

Johnson already had been suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 season for violating probation on a gun charge. He spent two months in jail and was released in May.

He would fit right in with Dallas & Jerry Jones. Guys, he was still out drinking & driving while on probation & supposed to be getting his life together. Yes, he was under the supposed limit, but it doesn't matter. He was not exactly staying out of trouble.

If your career was at stake, would you risk it for a few beers with the fellas? It speaks to a larger problem when some want him on their team. I applaud the Bears for taking action after numerous chances. The guy is trouble, plain & simple, & his record proves it. He even said he wanted to be the NFL
"Man of the Year" after his reinstatement later this year (if he stayed out of trouble). He's off to a great start, huh?

I don't think TO has ever gone as far as getting a DUI or going to jail. He just speaks his mind and people get mad over the truth

TO has done plenty to throw teammates & coaches under the bus every place he has been. You don't have to do jail time to be a bad seed. Apples & oranges comparison.

My feelings on him as a person & teammate are well-known. No need to rehash that. He will make plays & tear your team apart. TO is what he is. Tank Johnson is still a thug with quite a record.

TO has never torn a team apart. It's more media overreacting at everything he says.

Right on brother, keep believing that garbage. And how many teams now got rid of him because of his attitude & internal problems? SF, Philly, Dallas next? You bet & keep the blinders on...great player in his prime & TEAM CANCER. You will NEVER win a title with him. Quote me on that please.

If he never tore a team apart, then why did Philly & SF jettison him? Have you ever listened to McNabb & Reid talk about it? How about Garcia & Mooch in SF? It was never an ability question - it was his attitude & problems with teammates & coaches. That says it all. TO's a wonderful human being & all the media's fault...you bet!
